I have a saniflo mercerating toilet system. A this point it seems to want to continuously run after a flush. We have to either flush 2 or 3 times to get it to finally stop, or unplug it and then plug it back in. This works sometimes and then other times not! What could be causing this and how do we fix it?

Kohler is correct. The most likely cause of this problem is an obstruction in the common vent stack that both toilets share. When you flush the old toilet it need more air to flush and will get it from the easiest source (your new water saver toilet). First adjust the float level in the old toilet so it won't use as much water or just stick a brick in the tank to take up space.Second, run a snake down the vent stack from the roof to check for obstructions. Birds will sometimes nest in there.

low water in the bowl is only caused by the float being to high! the gurgles is Usually because of air coming back up through the pipe, check your vent pipe that come out the roof. this will help the draining.

SOURCE: Running toilet

Mine does that also, here's what I found.; I am on a well and occasionaly sand gets caught in the valve thingy... Take the tank lid off, turn the arm that attaches to the float assy. 1/4 turn towards the back of the tank and take it out. Rinse off the gasket and pin as well as inside the hole. Reassemble and it should solve your problem.

Place a few drops of food coloring in the tank of the toilet, if it is leaking you will see the color seep into the toilet bowl within a short period of time. If you see the food color in the toilet bowl you will need to replace the flapper.

The amount of time that the pump operates is determined by the amount of water that is drained into the unit. If the amount of water from the sink is less them the amount flushed then the pump will run accordingly.

Any brand approved for septic should work well in the saniflow system, but the key is to use as little as reasonably possible and flush as you go. Big wads of any type will compromise the system.

My Saniflo sanicompact does not flush away, when i press the flush botton it does not work, the toilet buzzes all the time. when the water gets to a level it use to pump away but has stoped doing this.

saniflo buzzing all the time means that the motor is trying to run but cannot. indicates that something is blocking the pump impeller from rotating. unit needs to be removed, cleared and tested. if fault contiues you may blow the fuse (if you are lucky) otherwise the motor will eventually burn out. get this checked soon.

When toilet is flushed the pump will continue to pump.

The air breather hole must be kept plugged in the US as odors will emmit through there is left open. I was told that it was only used for European installations. In the US the breather hole mut be kept plugged or seal capped. You must vent the unit using an 1 1/2" vent pipe and must be vented to the open air. As per plbg. codes it should be attached to the main vent stack or all the way through the roof.

Continually pumps

Probably the waste pipe blocked, it should have a rubber join that has worm screw clips securing it, I connect a hose to the"up" pipe and flush the blockage out.

My saniflow is running constantly.

Shut the water off to see if it stops running. if so the flush valve seat has calcium build up and needs to be cleaned start by using CLR to help dissolve the calcium. If running water is not the problem, the mercerator is jammed with paper and will need to be cleared.
