Mini Ipad will not turn on at all. - Apple iPad Mini

The Pass code for the update is the normal postcode you use when you turn on your iPad. I hope that fixes your problem.

This can only be one of 3 things:

1) iPad needs a reset - Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Drag the slider to turn your device completely off. After the device turns off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple logo.

2) Toggle the 'Silence' switch on the side of the iPad and turn up the volume

3) If the above two doesn't work, then it is most likely that your speaker isn't working.

In order to unlock an activation locked iPad, you need to get the activation lock turned off. If you have iOS 8 or above, watch this video on how to do it.

try turning the volume up. My iPad mini seems to have a lower volume level than my iPhones. The external speakers are almost inaudible unless turned way up, so I mostly use ear buds on it. But be careful using the earbuds! turn the volume down and gradually increase to a comfortable level,

Hold the menu button while pressing the power button. It will reset.

try removing the battery for several minutes , them put back in

Connect it to your PC via USB cable, then start iTunes.

I would first try doing a hard reset. Hold the home and power button down simultaneously until the iPad completely turns off and the Apple logo appears. You can ignore the slide to turn off button when it appears.
If that doesn't solve the issue I would make an appointment with your local Apple Store and have the device checked out by an Apple Genius.
