I can make a guess that it was antiviruspro(insert year) or one of its many flavors.

I am sorry to say that you will probably have to reinstall your windows.

After you do, you will need to put a legitimate antivirus onto your computer. There are several good free ones out there, AVG and AVAST are two that I am familiar with.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

There is an option to repair an existing installation. You can use that to get your computer up and running, long enough to move your pics off of it.

When you boot up your computer with the CD in the drive, select install. after it goes through loading the various drivers etc, it will ask you if you want to repair your existing installation. do that. After ou repair the install, the virus will still be there, so get all the files you want to keep off of it then do a complete reformat and install.

Acer starts has xp home. goes to log in page, pointer feezes unable to do anything.

If it works normally in Safe Mode, that is the place to run antivirus checks in depth, and also use Malwarebytes AV. Do updates for these before running.

My sisters Acer Aspire 5810TZ has a virus but when we go to log onto her laptop the screen goes black and wont let us do anything to try and get rid of the virus. What should we do.

Try booting into safe mode first. During boot up press F8 a few times, you should get a safe mode menu to; start windows normal, or safe mode, chose safe mode an see if that will get you logged in.

If OS is XP then log in the PC in safe mode there u will see a new account that is Admininistrator. Log in there make the chages in the user account there.
If the OS is Vista / Win 7 then restart NB in safe mode there u will see option like Safe Mode with Command Prompt log in that in the black box type in " net user administrator / active " enter then restart the NB log on to the new admin account click on it in there go to users click on ur user account delete the account password there and then resart PC log on in the old account. Dell Latitude D600 wont log on

Hi there
I'm sorry to say that it sounds like the win32 trojan virus.
Try to boot up in safe mode by restarting your PC and hitting F8, this will take you to a sub menu, choose "safe mode" log in if it lets you and choose "system restore" take the PC back to a date before this happened.
If you cannot get into safe mode then the virus has destroyed the operating system and you will have to recover the system.

Post back if you need any more assistance.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!
