Clarification: Are you asking about a replacement remote control for your TV or for your TV cable or satellite box?

If it is the remote control for the TV, you can purchase a universal remote control which should work with your TV. Be sure to read through the manual which comes with the universal remote control.

If it is the remote control for your TV cable / satellite box, then you should be able to call the Customer Service number for the cable / satellite provider and ask for a replacement remote control. You're probably better off programming the cable box remote to control your TV. Samsung codes are standardized, Motorola not so much.

No one can give you a well-defined answer since that would require brand names and model numbers of all devices. If the remote is more than a year or two older than the TV or cable box, it may not have any useful codes available. I suggest you get all the pertinent names and model numbers and try remotes.com The cable box maker may also have information you need so go to their website.

The little tyke has most likely pressed the INPUT button on the remote control and switched the TV away from the external input setting required for watching cable TV.

You did not state the model number of the TV and some TVs function differently with regard to the selection of external inputs, but you should be able to return to watching cable by pressing the INPUT button slowly but repeatedly until you can see the picture from the cable channels again. The INPUT button is located in the top right corner of your Element remote.

If an input selection menu appears on screen when you first press the menu button, use the arrow keys to highlight another input, then press ENTER to select it. I can't tell you which will be the correct input as I don't know the model number of the TV and it depends on which type of cable you are using to connect the TV to the cable box. You should try each input in turn until you are able to see the cable channels again. Please make sure the cable box is switched on when doing this!

If you are still having difficulty, please reply to me from within this page with the model number of the TV and the type of cable you are using to connect the cable box to the TV. I will then be able to provide exact instructions for switching your TV back to the cable input.

Hi! need the model number of your universal remote control...

With persistence, I was able to program the Universal Remote Control provided with the cable box to control my new used Pioneer SX-315 receiver. I now can control the tv volume, cable box, auxiliary stereo receiver with speaker system with one remote. Thank goodness I did not have to resort to buying a Pioneer remote control.

I was able to program another previously unused universal remote which I purchased several years ago. However, since the other remote control did not list the Vizio TV. That brand is too new for the remote.

reade the booklet that came with the cable box to get the program #'s for the remote to control you tv as well
