Try to format your SD card on your computer, you should be able to uncheck the write protect option, in the format menu. Hoping for a Windows-based computer, Start > My Computer > under "devices with removable storage" right click on your SD card, choose format, options should appear. Hope this helps...

did you put an sd memory card into it? this camera will not take pics without an sd memory card (it did not come with any memory to hold pics on the camera itself). the memory card needs to be inserted into the slot right next to the battery:)
Well, make sure you have checked the small gray tab on the left side of the sd card. It needs to be in the unlocked position. Too bad for me, because i have the same problem and my sd card isn't locked...
