Yes,the hard drive can be replace.
MRS1044 use general hard drive, 3.5 inch E-IDE type, 15 GB.
You can replace with bigger capacity.

It sounds like the hard drive has failed... cheap test, get another and reformat the new one. They are so inexpensive now. To avoid losing data, they lock things up if anything goes wrong. The unit probably can't get the ready signal from the drive and freezes...

I have a Boss 1180 cd player to record music on. I have recently taken it apart because it needs a new hard drive. I was needing to know what would be a compatible hard drive for a good price. The orginal...

FAT32 is a formatting standard of the disk where 32 bits are used for sector pointers. It is one of the standards and replaced the original FAT16 when larger drives required more sectors than the 65K that the FAT16 provided addressing for. The FAT32 gives one 65K times 65K total... even that is too small for the newer big drives so there are a couple of other standards now to accomodate these newer drives.

The FAT32 is still a current standard. DO NOT buy any USED drives from any source. You might also check TigerDirect.com.

My zoom mrs 1266 multi track recorder powers on but it will not go to check drives like the hard drive is froze

There could be several reasons why your Zoom MRS 1266 multi-track recorder is not working properly. Here are a few things you can try:
  1. Check the connections: Make sure that all the cables and connections are properly plugged in and secure.
  2. Restart the device: Try turning off the recorder and unplugging it for a few minutes. Then plug it back in and turn it on again.
  3. Reset the device: Look for the reset button on the device, or refer to the user manual to find out how to perform a factory reset. This will erase all the data on the device, so make sure to backup any important files before doing this.
  4. Check the hard drive: If the hard drive is frozen, it could be due to a mechanical failure. You may need to replace the hard drive or have it serviced by a professional.
If none of these steps work, it may be best to contact Zoom customer support for further assistance.

Hard drive failure

First thing is to open the unit and make sure the drive is connected. Sometimes cables get knocked off.

Next get a new drive... they are relatively inexpensive, like $69 or so and try it.

Take the old drive in your hand and snap your wrist to impart a spin to it. Then try the drive again... If it comes back to life, SAVE ALL THE DATA from it quick, and transfer to the new drive.

I have a Akai DPS16. Turned it on and got tyhe

It appears that your hard drive has become un-accessable,

Open the dsp16 unit and check the cable to the drive.

Check the power supply to the drive.

Remove the drive on spin the case by whipping around in your hand. If the disk has stiction, this MIGHT free it. Try operating it again.

Then replace the drive and reformat.

Im Sure You Solved This Problem But For Other User Yes There Is A Way To Save Your Data If Your Hard Drive Is Still Operable. You Can Put Your Boss Hard Drive Into Your Computer And Copy Its Contents To Your Computers Hard Drive. Some Say That If The Hard Drive Is Not Operating You Can Put It In A Ziplock And Then Stick It In The Freezer For An Hour Then Attempt To Retrieve Your Info. MY Boss br 1180 ,disk error

before you go out and buy a new hd try intializing your system.
unfortunaly you will lose all saved info, but you will either way. this test may save you some money.
with your 1180 in the off position press and hold the track 5 button below the fader and the redo/undo button that is just to the left of the rotarty knob and below the power button. while holding these two buttons press the power button and continue to hold the track 5 button and the undo redo buttons untill the test menu is showing. its takes about 15- 30 sec. in the test menu rotate the value knob till you see 23 initialize HDD and press ok. this process may take up to 30 mins. if this doesnt fixya then contact roland for a replacement.
