Put the burner base and caps in a resealable plastic bag.
Pour in about 1/4 cup ammonia.
leave in a safe place away from kids and pets.
leave for about 1 to 2 days.
In the sink dump the ammonia.
Wash the parts with water and scrub with green scrub pad.
CAUTION!!! Ammonia is strong stuff. Use gloves goggles and do not breath fumes. Open windows.

Burner cap

If you can remove the part from the range try this.
If it fits in a large resealable plastic bag do this.
caution, ammonia is strong stuff, sear glover, goggles, do not breathe fumes. Never never never mix with bleach.

Put the part in the bag.
Pour in about 1/4 cup ammonia in the bag.
Seal bag.
Let set in a safe location (outside or locked up away from kids or pets)
Let sit for 24 to 48 hours. Shake the bag a few times so the part is covered in the ammonia. L
Last bring the bag to your sink, dump the ammonia, wash of the part with fresh water. Scrub with green scrubbing pad.
Good luck.

How to remove the top panel of the cooktop?

To remove the top so that you can replace the electrodes, you just need to pull all the burner grates off and knobs. Then remove all the burner caps and rings off so that all you're left with is the cooktop and the burner bases. There are screws going into each burner base. Remove all the screws and the burner bases will pull up and off and then you can pull the top of the cooktop up and off.

How do I clean the soot and dirt out of my empire furnace?

If the furnace has been service annually there shouldn't be any soot in it. Soot in a furnace is caused my incomplete combustion, due to clogged or dirty burners. In any event, the bast way to clean it is use a shop vac with a brush attachment of the hose. A crevice tool will also be helpful.
To keep the soot in the shop vac, it's a good idea to purchase a dust back to fit that shop vac. They're normally used fro vacuuming sheet rock dust, but work equally well for soot. DO NOT use a domestic vacuum cleaner.

But, before you do anything, make sure the pilot light has been turned OFF and the furnace is cool.

Remove the front panel(s) of the furnace/heater and you will access to all of the inner workings.

This should help you get it clean.

Burner lights. Flame pulls away from burner and sensor. Unit shuts off

The first thing I would do is check burners to make sure they are clean. Often if rust particles or carbonsoot come loose from inside of the heat exchanger they can partially clog burner opening which causes increase in gas pressure to fewer ports. This can make the flame roll out of burner compartment shutting off flame rollout switch. With burners off turn thermostat down so that furnace won't come on and inspect burners. If they are dirty you can use shop vac with crevice tool to clean most of them. If needed the burners can be removed for cleaning. Usually all you have to do is raise up on the back end of burner and slide it backwards to clear air shutter and burner orifices and then remove. Clean one at a time and put them back in the same position they were in.When they are all back in furnace reset flame rollout and check furnace.
If burners are not dirty then I would have service tech. check gas pressure and repair as needed. Hope this helps you. Thanks

Viking pro 6 burner cooktop igniter won't stop clicking after lighting on two of the burners

Do not attempt if your stovetop is hot, you will get burned!!

This is an easy fix, the problem is your burners aren't lined up properly. Remove the iron grates (what your pots rest on) and the burner cap (the round black top on the burner) and finally the burner base (the round golden colored piece resting on the stainless stovetop). If you flip the base over you will see that it is keyed, meaning there is a grove that fits the indentation on the stove top. When you replace the base make sure to line the grove up with the indentation. If it's not flush with the stove top, slowly twist the round burner base until it falls into place. That's it!

Burners on top will not light with the pilot lights

To Clean:
IMPORTANT:
Before cleaning, make sure all controls are off and
the oven and cooktop are cool. Do not use oven cleaners, bleach
or rust removers.
1. Remove the burner cap from the burner base and clean
according to “General Cleaning” section.
2. Clean the gas tube opening with a damp cloth.
3. Clean clogged burner ports with a straight pin as shown. Do
not enlarge or distort the port. Do not use a wooden
toothpick. If the burner needs to be adjusted, contact a
trained repair specialist.
4. Replace the burner cap, making sure the alignment pins are
properly aligned with the burner cap.
5. Turn on the burner. If the burner does not light, check cap aligment.

Top burners spark intermittently with burner valves shutoff

Remove the burner caps (where the gas and flame come out) and wash in warm soapy water, using a plastic toothbrush like brush to scrub thoroughly.

Also clean/scrub the burner bases and ignition knob on the top of the cooktop.

When you reassemble, make sure the burner caps are properly seated in the burner bases.

Gas cook top

Most of the time when I come out for a service call with this problem, it is usually because the burner cap is not seated properly on the base. Look at the burner and make sure there are no uneven gaps. Most of the time you will have to rotate the burner cap till a notch or pin "seats" into place. Most burner caps just sit on the bases, and so they get knocked off or moved when the cooktop is cleaned or installed. Hope this helps!
