SOURCE: hi, i can't download some files to my transcend

You drive is formatted for FAT32. What that means is the way data is stored on the hard drive is an older method that does not support files over 4GB. The benefir of FAT32 though is it can be read and written in both Windows and Mac. If you hate mac (as we all do) then screw FAT32. I almost forgot, if you use this hard drive with the xbox 360 do not continue as the xbox 360 for some ******* reason 360s can only read FAT32. The new format we are going to go to is called NTFS (new technology file system) which is made by microsoft, makers of the xbox 360. lol

Anyway first backup everything you have on that disk. Either on a computer or burn it to DVDs cause if you don't you will lose everything.

Plug in the drive, right click on My Computer (or its just "computer" now) click manage. Go to disk management on the left pane. It will take a minute to detect all your drives. You will see your 500gb drive. Double and even triple check it is your transcend drive. Right click it and click format. Change File System to NTFS.

Probably not the right answer for your problem. Mine is an external 1 TB Simple Drive. Mine wouldn't respond at all. I unplugged the power cable from the back of the hard drive and replugged it in and instantly it worked (with the computer and hard drive plugged in). I had tried rebooting the computer, plugging/unplugging over and over into the computer and that didn't work.

Unallocated hard disk

New drives have to be readied for use. Try Start > Run (aka Search in Win 7) type dskmgmt.msc. Look for your drive there. It should be without a drive letter. Right clicking will give you the options of initializing, creating disc partitions, assigning logical drives, and formatting. If this seems a little daunting. A wizard should load. If not there is refresh icon on the toolbar.

Format the external hard drive to a exFAT (OSX snow leopard or later), or FAT32 (all versions of OSX). It can be read and written for both mac and windows.

I just purchased a StoreJet 2M 320 GB drive. I would like to format it for use with my iMac. The MAC software doesn't seem to have a solution. How do I format the drive?

When the flash memoryUSB hard drive device appears to malfunction it maybe possible to restoreit by reformatting it using a computer with Windows OS. Insert the flash or USB hard drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - AdministrativeTools - Computer Management - Disk Management. Then right click on Disk 1removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted itwill indicate that it is Healthy. You need to format the flash or external drive. Format thedrive as primary drive and in FAT32. (FAT32 will allow data to be exchangedbetween MACs and PCs also between XP/Vista and earlier versions of Windows).

I can not copy more that 2 GB toTranscend StoreJet 320 GB? Why?

Hi,
This is most likely because your hard disk is formatted using FAT32 which has a limitation of 2GB file size. Backup your data in another location and format the disk to NTFS and you should be able to copy that big file.

Would like a controller for a racing game to be used on a mac book

Any Logitech wheel should be detected by OSX Leopard or Snow Leopard - no drivers needed - in OSX, it's more the game that supports the controller than the OS itself that does.
