Jabra BT500 will not power on or charge

I can't seem to figure out why the Jabra won't power on or charge. I have tried the USB and Power cord and nothing happens no lights or anything. For a couple of days the orange light just flickered faintly but it wouldn't charge and now it's just completely dead.

Had same problem and I called Jabra.com. They said I have a defective headset. They are replacing it for free... as long as I can send them a copy of my receipt to show it is less than a year since a bought it.

  • shonni2008 Nov 23, 2008

I just got this headset 2 days ago and if you plug it in you will see a green light and then a red light (very quickly) and then nothing. It will not charge. I have tried the USB cable and the power cord....nothing. I do not have my receipt and Jabra will not help. HOW FRUSTRATING!!!

I think Jebra BT500 is a waste of money and time. I bought mine from Car phone warehouse in Kingsbury Road NW9, charged it as instucted and when I wanted to use it it will not come on and nothing was working. I took it back to the shop only to be told there is nothing they can do about it but to recharge it. Well I have given up with it. I will advise that it should be taken out of the market because it is useless.

I have the same problem. I charged it a whole night plugged in to my computer via usb port. Orange light flickered the whole time it was plugged in. When unplugged it was still dead. Plugged it into wall outlet with power cord that came with it...same results. Orange light flickered the whole time...when unplugged it was still dead, no light of any kind. This unit is practically new...only used it about a month before storing it.

I have at work 5 Jabra 150 which I kept in the closet about 2 years .Indeed no longer charges.
The probelm is the rechargeable battery. I spread one and the battery is not the type Li-ion but rather resembled a Pb-acid battery and is dead and.
there is nothing you can do.Take a look on picture 8 on this link http://www.instructables.com/id/Jabra-BT-350-Disassembly-and-Repair/. The aluminium part is the accumulator and is sealed .

I got it almost 1 year back and did not use it since I had another bluetooth. recently I've tried to use it and does not power up or charge. Nowadays I see less and less Jabras in the market.

Not a solution but a complaint. I have a Jabra Easy Call (1 year) and a Jabra Classic (2 months). Both stopped taking a charge at the same time. Company is worthless for help.

I have a jabra bt500...loved it...but hated it more! It also stopped taking a charge like the others...it sat in a drawer for nearly two years while i began a love/hate relationship with my motorola S9...when my m9 earpiece broke i pulled out the old bt500 and it magically regained its ability to charge...until I tried to charge it a second time...back in the drawer for another couple years (est)...and now...hmmmmmm...nope...still dead...its motorola's s10 for stereo multipurpose and h720 for quick answer for me now...jabra can bite it

My problem is it will charge up but will not turn on I contacted Jabra and because I can't find my receipt they will not give me any assistance and I've only had it since February of this year. I've never had a product that an individual tells me they don't repair at the price of these things. I will never buy another Jabra again.

I has going to call the number they gave me in a e-mail but after reading this I think I will be better off throwing it in the trash and buy someting else

Hello. I can't seem to get my phone to "discover" my bluetooth device.... Help?

Hi,
1. Turn headset off. Press and hold until solid light comes on.
2. Activate Bluetooth on your phone.
3. Search for Bluetooth devices and select Jabra BT500.
4. Press ‘OK’ on the phone ,If the phone asks for a PIN then confirm with PIN code 0000 (4 zeros)

Thank You

My Jabra BT500 is on mute. Callers can not hear me. It worked fine at first now nothing.

When powered up and in "talk" mode (during a call) hold the volume up and down "bumps" simultaneously. This engages/disengages the headset's mute function.... Hope this helps...

Bluetooth help

When you pair the bluetooth headset default passkey (PIN) should be used as "0000" (4 zeros). for further info you can check the user manual as I attached the link below

Unit won't charge and I get no lights

I have the same problem. it's due to a faulty pover-cell inside the headset. i have also read that the charger can be inserted the wrong way, this would in turn kill the battery by giving it a reverse charge.(not sure about that) as i tried this after finding the unit defective and it will only plug in one way.. the only suggestion that i can give is contact Jabra directly. iv'e read that they will replace any headset in this range for free, here is the address for their site. http://www.jabra.com/Sites/Jabra/UK-UK/pages/Contact.aspx Hope this helps.

Jabra BT500 won't power up

If you can try a different charger, try that. try charging with USB cable if not. Try your charger on another headset if you can. I think the charger is the problem. If no change every way, here is the link to the user manual if you need it; http://www.jabra.com/Sites/Jabra/NA-US/pages/SupportProduct.aspx?productid=3c063d26-e62b-4b4d-9613-c10134a79cf3 Page 7 has the toll-free tech helpline which is probably worth a check in case they have any ideas before opening it up. If still no luck, and you want to open it up, first thing to look for is the battery. check any connectors are on properly. try charging for a while and see if battery gets warm/hot/no change. See if there are any technical specifications or part numbers written on the battery and I can get more info to see if it can be checked and if it is worth replacing. If you have any trouble identifying the battery, try posting back a photo of the inside and we will see what we can do. Hope this helps :)

I had a very similar problem. Your headset is most likely defective. Call Jabra at Jabra.com and they'll replace it for you if you still have the receipt where you bought it from.
