VHS to DVD-R dubbs fine: but won't play on SONY DVD player.

I use a very simple method of dubbing: load both VHS and DVD and press the "dubbing" button.

I have not "finalized" the DVDs.

The new DVD plays fine on the DMR-E75V, but when I try to play it on another DVD player (SONY) attached to an older TV set, the DVD just won't load and the DVD player turns off!

    AWESOME!!! Thank you so much!!!

Now that I know how to "finalize," I'll just do it to every DVD - to be on the safe side! Thanks for answering!

You need to finalize the dvd bofore it will play in another dvd player. You may try using dvd-rw and you may be able to play it in another player without finalizing it. I use a Toshiba dvd recorder and record from tv onto a dvdRW and I never finalize it. It will play in other dvd players. Good Luck.

I have a Magnavox ZV427MG9. I follow all directions in manual for dubbing VHS home movies to DVD but when I try to play the DVD back there's nothing on them. What am I doing wrong?

Depending on the procedure you may be pressing the record button instead of the D.Dubbing or Dubbing button. When recording from VHS to DVD you must first, load the blank DVD and VHS home movies, then play the VHS movies, then PAUSE the VHS movie when you want to START recording... then the only the you have to do is pressing the D.Dubbing button or the Dubbing button. If your VHS tapes starts to play after the Dubbing button is pressed you have been successful in Dubbing.
