Motorola Bluetooth HS850 Pairing Mode

Just bought a Motorola Bluetooh HS850 headset and I'm following the pairing instructions to put the headset in pairing mode. Instructions say to hold down the multi-function button for 6 seconds till the light stays solid, then open the boom mic and the light should remain solid indicating the headset is in pairing mode. However, when I do this, the light will not stay solid and I can not pair my phone with the head set. Any ideas short of returning the product?

I have tried holding the button down to get the solid blue light and then opening the boom quickly (while still holding the button down) and it still will not stay solid. It goes right into flashing mode. Could it be the button/boom connection is defective?

Just got the new G1 and wanted to use it with my Motorola Bluetooth...I lost the instructions forever ago and didn't remember how to get the Bluetooth into pairing mode. I came to this site and just wanted to say, thank u! I'm not having any problems...I held down the button, the blue light stayed solid, I opened the boom and successfully paired it with my new phone. One thing, it asked for the PIN and I used 0000...got an error message saying it was the incorrect PIN. I tried again and it worked. Thanks again!!!

My bluetooth is the H700 and I was having the same problem. I got a new phone and couldn't find the directions on how to pair it. I knew the light had to stay on solid but couldn't get it to do that. Once I read that you have to hold the button and as soon as the light comes on open the boom, WOW that worked.
    It paired up right away.
    Thanks so much.

You guys, come on. I just got this from my dad, tried to pair it after reading the first one had the same prob, but firgured out how to pair on the second shot. You hold the button until the light turns on, WHILE HOLDING IT you open the boom, then light light stays on. put your phone in blue tooth mode, search, and pair. Those of you with a pass key I can't help because mine does not ask for one, good luck tho!

Hold the button on the center with the engraved phone image for exactly 6 seconds and as soon as you see the light come on flip the boom open while still holding the button. as soon as it is solid blue you can let the button go and you are in pairing mode.

I have Samsung phone that also didn't want to pair with the HS850. However, I found a way to do it.

1. Activate the Bluetooth function on the phone.
2. Select "Search new device"
3. While the phone is searching, hold down the multi-funciton button until the light stay solid, then open the boom (the light will remain solid).
4. Once your phone found the headset, it will ask for code. Enter "0000".
5. It may not accept the code right away, just try again.
Enter the code (you phone may already found the phone, but you still need to enter the code to pair it).

Close the headset, hold down the button until blue solid light came on. Open the boom.

Keep in mind that once your phone found the headset ( HS8590 show up on the phone), you should be able to pair it. You may have to repeat step several times. Good Luck

The fact that once you get the light to stay solid and you have to flip it open to keep that open communication...That was such an important element that so many step by step instructions on the internet did not mention. Thanks a bunch... now I won't get pulled over for talking on the cell phone....

  • Anonymous Jul 13, 2008

Thank you so much, that was the key element that so many of us were struggling with... Cool now I won't get pulled over (for holding my cell phone to my ear...) at least for that...

There actually is a trick to the HS850 - flip the boom closed, then hold down the button just until the light holds solid - IMMEDIATELY after it does flip the boom open and this should keep the light solid. Then on your cell/device search for bluetooth devices - you should be able to find it now. Passkey for most devices is 0000.

I think im just going to smash it, my product might be defected for something because when i try to put it in a solid mode, it would just keep flashing, even on a full charge, i cant even turn it off, the only way the blue led would stop flashing is if i drained the battery by leaving it on, i closed the boom, held the multi function key for 6 seconds and the light still flashes, so then i held it for 30 seconds, still flashing, now 1 minute, still flashing, i cant get it in pairing, cheap ****, if i cant get it to work within this week, its gettin a hammer.

I have a Motorola HS850 bluetooth headset and i couldn't get it to get into pairing mode. Then I read the instructions and i got it into pairing mode. What you have to do is hold on the the button in the center(bluetooth closed) and as soon as it lights up, open the "boom".(The Microphone) When the boom opens up at the same time the light in the middle it lit, the light will become solid and then it will be in pairing mode. When the phone finds the bluetooth connect it and enter the passcode "0000".

It worked!!!! Best solution worked! Flip the boom as quickly as you can after the blue light turns on. Then, use your phone directions for pairing. Pass code is 0000. I found it also helps to touch the headpiece to the phone as well. Thanks!

This worked great for me... I got the headset in "pairing" mode by following these instructions. Then set my BB Curve 8350i to "discover" bluetooth devices. It discovered the headset and asked for a PIN number... one of the other articles I read said the pin was "0000" so I put that in and - PRESTO - it works

Need instructions for connecting ear piece to iphone 4

Hi,to complete the look of a tech-savvy, iPhone-using individual, you must have a Bluetooth headset to accompany it. You can pair any Bluetooth headset with an iPhone. The Motorola HS850 is no exception to this. Both Motorola and Apple's Bluetooth set-up process is fast, so you'll be talking with people through your new Bluetooth on your iPhone in a matter of minutes.

Instructions

Charge the Motorola HS850 headset fully before attempting to pair. Usually, it takes two to three hours to charge the headset.

Press and hold the "Call" button (has a phone icon on it) on the headset for six to 10 seconds. The outside LED light will turn on indicating that the phone is in pairing mode.

Choose "Settings" on the iPhone homescreen.

Select "General," then "Bluetooth."

Select to turn Bluetooth on.

Wait for the phone to search for in-range devices.

Select theMotorola HS850 from the list of devices.

Enter the headset passkey to complete the pairing. By default this is "0000."

Have a nice day..

Pairing Motorola RAZR with the HS850

No, living outside of your cellular "home area" has nothing to do with the bluetooth pairing. You're problem is a common problem. Lots people have this problem you are not alone. So, here is what I suggest. 1. Make sure both the headset and the phone are fully charged. 2. Delete the "device" from your phone. I mean precisely that. Go into you cell phone's bluetooth settings and erase your "HS850" from it. 3. Try re-pairing it. Put the phone and the headset in pairing mode and allow it to sync. This should do it. I always works for me. You usually only need to pair once and every time you use the headset all you should have to do is connect it. I hope this works for you. Good Luck.
