Disassemble pentair challenger pool pump

you need only apply small amount of lube between thumb and forefinger and turn o ring clockwise to apply lube to it. do not over lube o rings they may not seal. You may have to take pump apart and remove all excess lube. Also check for obstruction in discharge line you may also tighten band

since it's a new install is voltage set correct on motor ? this seems possible due to short run time you report

easy both of them are junk. get a (sta-rite max e click on it) a 1.5 hp should do just fine. the 2hp is to run your spa and not economical to do unless you you have two pumps one for the pool and one for the spa.. if you have a 2 story house with solar you will need a 2hp
used pumps can be tricky so search for your local pool pump repair guy and see if he could build you one, this will save you money and be handy if you need repairs in the future ! ask him how to take care of your pump !

You may need a seal plate o-ring or you may have a shaft seal leak. See if you can determine if there is water running down the outside of the seal plate from where the motor mates to the seal plate.

check the impeller for debris. you will have to take the metal band off that connects the wet end to the seal plate. inspect the impeller for debris. lube all o-rings and reassemble. if that does not work, investigate a blockage in the suction side plumbing.

Make sure you remove the mounting screws item 15 (2 ea) and item 9 (4 ea)
There are also 3 screws 120 deg apart item 12. Screw holes can be seen on item 2.

The impeller has a Locking screw item 10 that if it is not removed makes it impossible to remove the impeller.

Inside the pump is a set of bearings that help the components of the motor run smoothly. When they become clogged with dirt and debris or wear down, your pool pump may get very noisy or stop working altogether. This high pitched squealing you are hearing is fairly consistent with bearing failure.
t might be best to have the motor seperated from the pump housing and take it to your local pool outlet or motor shop. Installation of the bearings will be a breeze for them and make sure that no damage is done to the shaft of while the new bearings are being installed. At this time, they can also inspect the motor and make sure that there are no other problems with the pool motor.
Also, you should ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS replace the shaft seal whenever you take the pool pump motor apart. This will ensure a positive seal for the motor and minimize the opportunity for leaks to occur.

Replacing the bearings in your pool motor:
1. Turn off power to your pool pump by unplugging it from the power source or by turning off the circuit breaker. 2 Remove the plumbing from the pump. Take off the unions on the suction and discharge side using a wrench. Loosen the pool pump from the fitting holding it to the ground and move it to a comfortable area to work in. 3 Remove the housing from the pool pump and separate it from the motor. Look at the owner's manual for your pump to see the specifics on how to remove the pool pump housing, since each model is different. Usually you will need to loosen a bolt with a socket wrench and loosen the metal band that holds it in place. 4 Remove the four bolts that hold the pump together. These are located on the hand bell of the frame. Remove the motor end bells. 5 Pull out the motor armature to expose the ball bearings. Insert your ball bearing puller to pull out the old ball bearings. Inspect them for damage. Replace the old ball bearings with new ones after greasing them with bearing grease, and reassemble the pump.
To be honest with you, I don't even let our technicians replace the bearings in the field anymore. It is a little difficult and really, how many people have a "ball bearing puller" laying around their house.
*Please note, this should ONLY be attempted if you are comfortable with the instructions and taking apart the pump, have the necessary parts and tools to make the repair, and are familiar with ensuring that everything is back together properly!

The motor bearings are probably starting to fail. If you winterize the pool I would take the motor portion off the pump and have a local electric motor repair shop look at it. A simple bearing change and new pump seal would run $50 or less at most places. If not, shock the pool and run the pump overnight to balance the water and then pull the motor for the repair. It will probably only take a day or so for it to be completed.

once you have the light fixture on the deck, take it apart. There should be a screw/bolt with a 3/8" head with a phillips insert. Once you remove the bold the band should come off. Be sure to take note how the light comes apart. You'll have to line up the top screw with the top of the fixture, this also lets the tabs fit properly as well. Once it's apart, just pull the old gasket off and clean the lens thoroughly. stretch the new gasket around the lens and make sure it seats completely. Place the lens against the fixture with the lens lined up with the led's if you have the intellibrite. Sometimes the lens will have an "up" marking. Where the cord comes out of the fixture is normally the the top, line the fixture ring up with screw to the top, check to see that the tabs are lined up and then fit the wire band around the tabs and insert the bolt and tighten thoroughly.
