Electrolux canister vacuum

My daughter dropped the canister vacuum and it came completely apart. I have everything back together except the electrical wiring. Can anyone tell me where I can find a wiring diagram for an electrolux canister vacuum?

This is an Electrolux model 1401-B.

Looked into the back end of the vacuum and see a sparking tiny flame when the vacuum is on. Is this an electrical problem or something I never notice before?

The easiest solution would be to call your local Aerus/ Electrolux representative, because the corporation doesnt publish diagrams.

How to put back togeather a electrolux el6989

Did you take it apart, or did somebody else? Those can be tricky. Take it to your local vac shop and have it assembled. I've been working on vacs for nearly 30 years and I can tell you, that is one of the worst ones to get together.

How do I get at, and then repair or replace a not working on-off switch of an electrolux ambassador?

You should take it to your local vacuum shop and have it serviced. This is not an easy switch to replace. First, you will likely never figure out how to take it apart, and second, if you do, you will likely never get it back together correctly. Trust me, I've been repairing vacs for over 26 years. This is one you will be wise to spend a little bit and have a proffessional do it.

I have an old AP 200 Electrolux Canister Vacuum cleaner. Can,t figure out how to take it apart to check the main switch & motor. What is the trick to getting it apart?

The whole thing comes apart like a puzzle. The side rubber pieces on each side slide outward to front of machine. After they are removed everything comes apart. Make diagrams so you will not forget how to put back together. If you need any more help, let me know. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

How do I repair my Electrolux Lux 9000 cannister electrical cord retraction? It was pulled out as far as it would go and now it doesn't retract.

First, try standing vacuum on it's back end. Gently pull on cord and release. Try this a few times.
If this doesn't work, you'll need to take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and let the service tech repair it. Although it's relatively easy to disassemble, reassembling correctly is trickier. I've had several machines come into the shop disassembled because the owner couldn't figure out how to put it together again.
Also, when taking the cord rewinder apart, there's a risk of breaking tabs that hold it together.

I need help removing a cat toy from the handle that connects to the hose on my vacuum? The ball seems to be stuck in the curve or just below the curve before it enters the hose.

The handle needs to be removed to do this. Taking the handle apart and especially putting it back together can be tricky, so I recommend taking it in to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store to have the item removed. If you don't put it back together properly, it could result in an electric shock, and even a fire. I have seen a totally melted hose from someone trying to dig out an object, then the hose wiring shorts out and lights up.
I dislike having a disassembled machine or part brought in to be reassembled, and finding a broken tab that requires replacing the handle or part that's brought in.
Be safe, please take it to the shop.

I want to open the cannister to work on the cord rewinder but I don't want to force it and I am unable to locate/see how the back latches work.

This should really be done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux servich technician. I've seen quite a few dismantled machines come into the shop because the owner couldn't figure out how to put it back together properly. And the cordwinder can be even more difficult. The service techs really don't like to put together a dismantled machine.
There are no back latches.

However, to open the canister:
You will need a flathead screwdrive and a hammer.
1. Remove bag
2. Lay on one side, with bag door open all the way
3. Push tip of screwdriver in the back of side rubber strip.
4. Use hammer to hit screwdrive toward front of vacuum.
5. When strip is 5-6 inches out, grasp with fingers and and slide gently out the front of vacuum.
6. Repeat for other side.
7. Lay machine on it's top and lift bottom half of canister off top half.
8. You now have access to cordwinder. I suggest you take notes as you go so you remember where everything goes.

Putting it back together isn't this easy.

I have an older Electrolux canister vacuum - model #2100 and the temperature sensor shuts down the motor. How to I take apart and clean?

Check to be certain the thermo lite is on and not the bag full indicator. The thermo detector is very reliable, but the bag fill valve often fails. If it is the thermo, check your hose and wand for blockage by dropping a coin through them, before opening the vac itself.Otherwise you may have a bad set of motor bearings causing the motor to overheat due to its age.
The 2100 and all its canister cousins made since 1982 seem to be prone to failure of the dial valve on top cracking internally. The causes the bag full indicator to come on and the vac to shut down.
To open the vac you will need to slide the locking keys and bumpers forward with the bag door open. Do this with a set of pliers. Once done the vac will open from front to back like a **** shell. Be careful to look at the underside hinge are of the bag door before separating and mark and locate the wiring harness . This vac only goes back together one way, perfectly assembled it pops together with ease. If any piece is out of line it`s like a RUBIKS Cube. Take your time . OEM parts are only available through an AERUS Elctrolux dealer or repair shop
