It sounds like you are missing the throttle return springs that returns the throttle actuator back to closed. The draft of the engine will open the butterfly valve.
Go to JD web page, click support, dial in your numbers and read the manual ( you can not download it but can print it out in sections ) find your wiring diagram and check.
JD use either a fuse or a fuseable link.
Your will your serial number as there are three different configs on this.
You look up your power train at jdparts.com; just used Z425 as the model number.
Need additional information...Check to see if it is the new battery or the electrical system first........ when the battery is "up", disconnect from the system. Remove both wires from the battery...connect the next day and see if the battery will crank the mower. I've experienced new battery's that have an internal short....Let us know whether battery or John Deere electrical system.....and we can troubleshoot from there...
Concerning a Z425 John Deere mower. When I start the mower it shuts off immediately, when I try it again the motor cranks but will not start. any suggestions?
