If it has a external mic jack you could see if that is working. if it is then the mic on the camcorder is bad.

My vcr plays commercially-recorded tapes fine, but tapes recorded on it or another VCR play with the sound distorted. The picture seems fine.

Sounds like its mechanism need some alignment. Guide pole alignment. Contact any service technician. This is technically skilled work. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Can i play records through my sherwood rd6108 receiver? When i try to play a record i get no sound no matter which channel i use.

Record players require a PHONO input on an amp.
Most amps no longer have this, so you will need to source out a pre-amp for the record player, and then you can plug the record player into the pre-amp and then hook the pre-amp into a tape, DVD or AUX input.

The sound is not working when trying to record on a new tape or do a new recording, but works on other tapes that have been previously recorded

There are 2 heads in the recorder. One for reading (playing) and the other for writing (recording). 1st try cleaning these heads
using a Squab (Q tip) with a alcohol based cleaning solution (Radio Shack). Always rub the squab on the head in the direction the tape would follow, not perpendicular.

Recording

I'm going to venture a guess that what might have happened is you changed the mode of recording. VCRs record in either short play, or long play, or even super long play. As the length of playtime goes up, the quality goes down, because for short play, a 6 hr tape will record only two, whereas a 12 hour tape will record four hours. More information is stored on the tape, so the quality of picture and sound increase, but a longer movie could be cut off. You can adjust the play-length with the sp/slp buttons on your remote control.

Sony 8mm camcorder will record sound but no video

Since it is playing the tape, the play head is ok. Now recording is done by recording heads so you may have a clogged heads or damaged recording heads. Try to clean the heads with head cleaning tape to see if it would help. 1. remove the tape and leave the door open. 2. using a canned air, blow out any dusts in the tape area. 3. run head cleaning tape for about 10 seconds and no more. 4. try the recording.. If this does not resolve, you may have a damaged or heavy clogged video heads. Take it to nearest video technician for a diagnostic. -James

VCR tape playback not good

Check your "tracking" If the tape played fine in the old machine, then tracking is the answer, provided that the new machine records good.

GR-D72 Mini DV Digital Camcorder makes clicking sound when tape running

the clicking is from the capstain turning the tape -- and perhaps the metal cage holding the tape.. if it is bent then the movement of the capstain may be pushing it in an eccentric fashion.

send it in for repair.

No sound on tape

hi , many faults for that 1- have you tried to play an old tape with sound to check that the video plays sound ?? if you have the sound of a previous tape then move to 2- from where you are recording if you are recording from tv rf channels then move to 3 or if you are recording from dve chek the audio connection that are coming from dvd to video and change it 3- the remaining last fault is you have a dirty audio head needs cleaning and if you don't know how to do so go to qualified person and if you are familiour with that open case and clean and if no refer to 5 5- the audio head it is a chrome cube with a black two thins lines in the right of the mechanism near the pinch roller rounded thing that draws the tape to move get a clean cloth and spread alchohol on it and rub the rectangle cube audio head up and down ovewr the two thin black things inside it please don't forget to do excelent rate cause i here to help you regards
