Ok, the motor turns, but throws sparks on the brushes. This is normal to an extent for universal motors used on that type of equipment.
Try reassembling the saw, and put a blade on it, then try it. If it runs, try cutting a piece of scrap 1x, both crosscut & rip. If the motor can't hold the load, you may still have to replace it.

The saw I own is different from the one pictured. Not sure of model number.
Okay, the saw is a Delta 36-600, and I removed the motor, which a Delta representative told me is a 1313314 part number for that whole motor assembly. When I turn it on, there motor turns, so it's not the switch, and there's a very loud whirring noise, and some blue sparks inside the motor. I took the brushes out, they don't appear damaged, and the armature also does not look damaged...
Okay, sounds good. I'll do that when I get home. What about the noise? Is this just a very loud motor, or is something wrong?
on the back of the case there should be a tag or sticker with the model and serial numbers on it. Also on the motor itself there should be model and serial number as well as voltage, amps and a bit more info.
See if you can find the dataplates on both and post here, please
