Can you jumper the relay or find the red wire by the battery that is nit connected it will have a green connector jump it to positive and see if pump comes on

  • skennys2145 Jun 07, 2011

I have found that more often than not, the problem lies in the electrical connector that goes through the floor of the van right behind the driver's seat.
It's exposed to all sorts of **** that can short it out.
You can try to clean-up the connections or cut off the plug and connect each wire directly using ****-end connectors.

I have an 01 pontiac montana that the fueel gauge reads full all of the time until the vehicle is on empty.Do you have any sugesstions on what it is or how to fix it?

Replace the fuel sending unit and it will correct the issue. They are about 20 bucks and you will have to drop the fuel tank to get to it.

Gas gauge always reads full.

Hello John.
The Montana/Venture vans have a problem with the fuel gauge sending units in the early 2000's.
The only cure is to drop the fuel tank, remove the sending unit and replace it.
The fuel gauge sending unit is available separately from the fuel pump.
Thank you for using FixYa.

I have a 2004 pontiac montana. for about two years the fuel guage would fold over and read 125 degrees when the tank is full. it woulld stay there until tank was empty and the needle would drop to empty,...

It could be a bad fuel gauge in the dash unit, but....
Usually it's "The bad".
The fuel level sending wipe arm and windings on the fuel sender wear and send erratic readings. The only cure is a replacement fuel gauge sender.
The check engine light should not be related to the erratic fuel readings.
"The good".
If you have over 200,000kms or 120,000 miles on your van you need a new fuel pump anyway,so have a complete assembly put in which will have a new fuel sender on it.

Fuel Gauge stuck on full

You need a new fuel level sending unit. It is the sensor in the gas tank. There have been several issues with these, and they are primarily caused by bad fuel. I would recommend replacing the fuel level sending unit, then switching fuel brands.

2003 pontiac montana running out of gas at half tank after fuel pump replacement

The fuel pump/tank sending unit may not be assembled or installed correctly.

If the fuel pick up portion is not positioned properly, it will not reach the bottom of the tank.

If the sending unit is faulty, you will not know the correct volume of fuel in the tank(misreading).

Take it apart and check these items.
