My Samsung HLR5667W DLP won't come on. Lamp lite blinking

My Samsung HLR5667W DLP won't come on. The Lamp indicator lite blinks for about a minute, then the system shuts down again. The lamp is illuminated in back but now menu or picture. It has been doing the freeze picture thing occationally for a year or so. That is when the picture freezes then goes black and the tv restarts and worked fine untill the next freeze.

I hauled it in to a service shop, laying on its back on top of many pillows. No problem there, so don't rent a truck if you have plenty of pillows or other soft support. They say it is the "Main Board". According to Samsung parts, that main board is on "back order for a minumum of 4 weeks. Real nice. A $3000, 3 year old TV needs $400 worth of repairs and the jack ***** at Samsung can only say "you should have bought a service agreement." All financial experts agree to self insure plus what good would that be? They are only for 3 years anyway and you bozo's don't have the parts! I' m sure the agreement would have been more than $400 so I'm ahead. I'll never buy another Samsung product. They obviously built the mainboards wrong, or there wouldn't be a run on them now.

SOURCE: Black screen with a Blinking lamp in the front

Hi my name is Vince and I have a samsung dlp (model hl-r5667 w). Its about 4 years old and i have no warranty for the tv. Recently my lamp went bad so i purchased a new lamp and installed it myself and about 45 minutes later a there was loud pop and the screen wet black and the sound went out as well. Also the tv started making a loud humming noise. I had a tv repair guy come look at the tv and from the second he walked in the door he was on his phone arguing with some one for ten minutes and seem like he did want to work. Well he finally got after the call and told me that the light engine needs to be replaced. Do you think I should get a second opinion or does that sound about right? The only reason I ask is because he did seem like he wanted to work on the tv and had something else going that was more important. Thanks

SOURCE: Samsung Dlp HL-R7178w not turning On.

If all 3 leds blink, it can be the lamp, ballast (lamp driver), color wheel, or dmd board (all are engine parts = engine failur). its usually the lamp, but you can listen to troubleshoot. when it turns on, you will hear the fans come up (humm..airflow noise), then you will hear the colorwheel (high pitched squeel.. it will come up to speed) and then the ballast will fire up the lamp.. if the lamp doesn't fire, you will hear the spark gap fire (a 1 second buzz noise indicating bad lamp).. the gap will fire 3 times, they tv will then retry again and again until it shuts off and kicks out the error. this power up path will help you listen to find your problem. i can assist further.

SOURCE: no picture on my samsung 61" dlp.

The color wheel if bad enough, will cause the lamp not to light. If the lamp is truly bad, you can't usually tell by just looking at it unless of course it is broken.

My Samsung 46in DLP turns on but within a few minutes it truns off and the timer, lamp and red stand by/ temp lights blink. Any Ideas?

The blinking lights usually indicate that the lamp is faulty or burnt out. In this case a new lamp would be required. The lamp in your projector set should last around 3-4 years of typical use. If your lamp is at the end of it's life you may have noticed a gradual reduction in brightness over the last few months. In this case if it's still in warranty contact Samsung to arrange for a replacement lamp.
Occasionally the lamp may not come on even when it is not burnt out. You could try turning the power off for 60 seconds on the back of the set. The other possibility is that the lamp is loose. Refer to your manual on replacing the lamp and follow the instructions removing the lamp and then put it back into place. If neither of these work you will need to get a new lamp.

Tv comes on and picture and audio go out in about 5 minutes lights blinks lamp timer Could it be lamp or balast and can both me changed by owner

Hello: This is an indication of a bad of faulty lamp. If it has been at least two years since you have purchased the unit, then replace the lamp, first as this is main fault of DLP Televisions.

Why does my samsung tv cut off by itself after 1-2 min and flash a red lamp button?

A little explanation first- this model (as do most Samsung DLP sets) will try 3 times to get the lamp lit before the microprocessor will give up and then the 3 lites on the front will blink indicating a LAMP failure. This process takes about 1 to 2 minutes. In order of probabilty, the failures are:
1) A faulty lamp and/or ballast. REPLACE LAMP AND/OR BALLAST
However, a faulty lamp and/or ballast are not the only things that will give this blink code-
2) If the color wheel has a bad bearing and turns too slow or not at all, the microprocessor WILL NOT let the lamp light, and then give a LAMP blink code. A bad color wheel will normally have some sort of abnormal sound- a low growl or high pitched whine is common. REPLACE COLOR WHEEL
3) ALSO, if the microprocessor (on the DMD board) in its color wheel rotation detection or processing fails, once again the lamp is prevented from coming on and you get a LAMP blink code. REPLACE DMD BOARD
IF THE SET EVER COMES ON WITH A PICTURE for even a fraction of a second or though it takes many tries, the lamp and ballast are good. The problem must be either the color wheel or DMD board.

Black screen with a Blinking lamp in the front

Hi..if your lamp is on but no picture, then your lamp is good. Your problem is the DMD board (digital mirror display board) is bad. This is very common with Samsung DLP.
