My TV is starting to take a long time to turn on. Used go turn on right away after I hit the power button. Noe it takes about 20 Sec. TV is about 10 years old but still plays fantastic.

The high temp safety switch could be shorted.

I would start by reseting the tv unplug it for 30 min then hold the power button on tv and plug it in at the same time holding the power button for 20 sec.

The flashing light red power light should only stay while the fan cool down for about 1 minute after a power off (remember to always wait before unplugging the TV so the lamp can cool down with the fan). Does that flashing start right away after plugging back the TV after an hour of letting it without AC power.

The red light should flash no longer than 10 sec. This prepare the light to be turned on. If all is OK the green should stay (no longer flashing) and the sound and picture come on.

As for the lamp flashing, i bet it's only 1 time each 5 sec? Or do it group many rapid flash each 5 sec?

Things that can be wrong:
-the fan lamp

-the lamp is not proprely inserted (wait an hour before manipulating it to be sure it cooled down, and use glove to not put body oil on it).

-Lamps is defective and is not operating properly so you can't get to the usual on screen message that recommend to change the lamp.

sounds like a power supply issue. partstore.com might have a power supply for this tv

Looks like the core of the problem is this:

microswitches on the frontcontrol board leaking.replace it.

They asked me to take my finger and rub left to right back and forth hitting all the buttons, do this about 20 times.. then poke the reset button in and out a few times.. Wait about 60 to 90 seconds and see if your green light quits flashing.. If so, try powering on with your remote.

It is most deffinately a convergence chip issue. The die for no reason. They can be bought online for around $10 dollars and anyone with experience with soldering can replace them pretty easily. I have done it.

if you know how to used soldering iron, solder your tv specialy the power supply and the jungle IC becouse 50% of the tv problems is lose connection .

Bite the bullet, because it's time for Santa tech to work on this and find the reason for the power supply problem..accordianman
