Paper size I am trying to print on paper that is 5 1/2" wide by 8 1/2" long. How do you tell the printer that you have a different size of paper than what is already there. Even when I try to tell the printer that it is 5x7 it spits the paper out. Jan

The 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" paper is for a one time use. I am printing about 150 wedding invitations.

Is the 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" paper for a one time use or do you want to set it up permanantly?

Okay, go to your printer folder Start/Printers Right click on your printer (Officejet 6310) and click on Properties. You will see a button near the bottom called Printing Preferences. Here is where you choose your paper. You can make your choice here and choose to make it your default settings (click Apply to make the new paper your default to print your invitations...you will have to change back after). You may change the quality of print and paper type as well since the default setting won't provide the quality of print you desire. From here it's pretty straight forward. Feed your invitations into the paper tray as you would normal paper and try a test print for quality control. Once you've got the desired output, print the rest of your invitations.

How get my WF-3640 Printer to print. It keeps saying "Paper type does not match paper settings."

Your printer comes with software used by the computer to control how it prints. Open the printer software and then select print setup. Under that screen somewhere there is paper size selection. Make sure it is set to whatever size paper you have in the printer (i.e., 8-1/2" x 11", etc.). All it is is a size paper mismatch. The computer is trying to tell the printer to print on one size of paper and the printer is saying it can because it has a different size of paper in it.

I have a canon mp 240 and it Prints fine if you only need half of the document. It cuts everything in half! Like it reads the header wrong or blows up the words or make extra spaces. How can I get it to...

I thought maybe you have the paper size set to Landscape rather than Portrait. If not, then you might look at:

http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp240#ServiceAndSupport

I did some searching on that site and it yielded the hlep below which may give you some help.

Issue: How do I set my printer so my printout fits the paper size I am using?
Solution: Use the recommended Print Area MP240

Printing Area title-bar.gif To ensure the best print quality, the machine allows a margin along each edge of media. The actual printable area will be the area inside these margins.
Recommended printing area (dark blue):
Canon recommends that you print within this area. (o_darkblue13.jpg)
Printable area (light blue):
The area where it is possible to print. (o_lightblue14.jpg)
However, printing in this area can affect the print quality or the paper feed precision.

o_area15.jpg i_note.gif Note
Borderless Printing
By selecting the Borderless Printing option, you can make prints with no margins.
bullet_s.gif When performing Borderless Printing, slight cropping may occur at the edges since the printed image is enlarged to fill the whole page.
bullet_s.gif For Borderless Printing, use the following paper.
- Glossy Photo Paper "Everyday Use" GP-501
- Photo Paper Glossy GP-502
- Photo Paper Plus Semi-Gloss SG-201
- Photo Paper Pro Platinum PT-101
- Photo Paper Plus Glossy II PP-201
-Photo Paper Pro II PR-201
- Matte Photo Paper MP-101
Performing Borderless Printing on any other type of paper may substantially reduce printing quality and/or result in printouts with altered color hues.
Borderless Printing on plain paper may result in printouts with reduced quality. Use them only for test printing. You can perform Borderless Printing on plain paper only when printing from your computer.
bullet_s.gif Depending on the type of paper, Borderless Printing may reduce the print quality at the top and bottom edges of the paper or cause these parts to become smudged.

When I want to make a copy it tells me "Paper size

Hi,

Good day, Regarding the error message that your getting, that means the paper where you want to print that document is not supported by the printer. Usually you'll the see supported paper size if you click the print option or print setup for your printer. The only way to resolve this is to use the appropriate size of paper like.

You can also try this steps to change size for the documents you want to print

>Open the File menu and click Print.
>Click the Settings tab
>Click on Paper Size. A list of paper sizes will appear
>Select the size you want.
>If none of the selections are suitable, select Custom. A box will appear inviting you to set your
own measurements. Enter the width and length that you want.
>Click OK.

These are the usual paper size use. It's 8 1/2 by 11 inches and the other one that you could use in most printers is 8 1/2 by 14. The first one is known as Letter size, the other one is known as Legal size. Hope this information help in resolving your issue. Have a great day.

In our office we want the printer tomsupport the paper size 15*12. We create the paper size. but it is not displayed while setting the paper size for printing. Our printer is Tally Genicom 6306

Ok, I think the problem you are having is when printing from a version of Windows, basically the problem is the 6306 can only print 13.6 Inch Wide, it looks like you are trying to define a paper size 15 inches wide.
As the paper size defined is wider than the capability of the printer, you do not see this paper size within Windows.

The solution to the problem may be much easier than you might imagine as it is very unlikely you actually want to print 15 inches wide, you more than likely want a paper width of less than 13 inches but are including the sprocket holes and margins at the side of the paper.

Simply define a paper size the width of the printable area of the paper, so long as this is less than 13.6 inches you will then be able to select this within Windows.

At school there is a printer the Dell 5100cn laser printer and we need to print labels and each time we try it asks on the computer if I want to continue because they are outside of the standard margins,...

A5 is a European paper size standard. Your label making program is telling the printer that the program needs that size label paper. You have to tell the printer to use that size paper. It may be somewhere in the menu of the printer driver on the computer or it may be on the display window on the printer, or it may be as simple as flipping a tab in the paper tray. As far as the printing outside the standard margins, most printers will allow a certain amount of that without a problem. Just tell it yes or Ok. If you solve the paper size problem and it hangs up when you tell it to print outside the margins, then the printer is not compatible with that label format in the label printing program. You will have to choose a different format. I recommend that you select a label format that is a US standard like 3 across on 8 1/2 x 11 paper.

Hello sir, how to take print on A4 page? please help me

Hi The A4 paper size is an internationally used paper format. Although not often used in America, it is by far the most commonly and widely circulated paper size. At 8 1/4 inches by 11 3/4 inches, it is similar though not quite identical to the American standard U.S. letter size, which is 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches. Because of its ubiquity, all printers and programs have the ability to handle the size, and getting a printer to print to it is a matter of adjusting the settings.Put the A4 sized paper into the automatic feeder in the printer. You may have to adjust the tray guides to fit the paper in snugly. Close the tray firmly when finished.
  • Step 2.Set the printer to register the A4 sized paper inside the the tray. This varies from printer to printer but generally involves going into the print menu, scrolling to the automatic feeder and designating the tray as an A4 tray.Step 3.Select "File" and then "Page setup" in the program you are using.Step 4.lick on the drop down menumag-glass_10x10.gif next to paper size and choose "A4.Step 5.Select "File" and then "Print." Click the "Print Summary" button to ensure the file is set to print to the A4 size.
  • Step 6.Press "Print" to print the photograph.

I'm trying to print some photos on 4 x 6 paper. i selected notecard paper size, but the printer keeps printing the 4 x 6 photo on 8 1/2 x 11 paper.

Are you telling the printer to use the smaller paper?
If it has 2 sizes it will keep using the last size used unless you tell it to change.

"No paper" or "Wrong paper size" warnings

Look in driver and see if the paper size is set to a different size. It could be that the driver says you want Letter size prints but you have A4 in the tray. The problem is most likely a driver setting that is set differently to what you need. Another option is to check that the paper feed guide is pushed up properly. If it is set too wide the machine may think it has a different sized paper in it.
