Bobbin thread won't come up with top thread .

The needle broke off and then the top thread won't pick up the bobbin thread. It worked before I broke the needle off and replaced the needle. I was sewing, decorative zigzag stitch, on a pair of jeans. The needle snapped in to. You know when you start to sew and need to pull the bobbin thread up to put it behind the shank.

I have a Brother XL-3022 with the same problem. I was sewing, the machine jammed going thru 3 layers of microsuede cloth (not that heavy). The needle bent, so I got everything loosened, replaced the needle, rethreaded everything. Now the machine won't pick up the bobbin thread. It's got a new needle. The top thread is perfectly threaded. I've taken the bobbin mechanism apart a dozen times. Still can't get it to pick up the bobbin thread. There doesn't appear to be anything broken off, or bent or out of place. All parts go back together fine. It just does't work.

First thing to do is make sure a brand new needle is installed and that it faces the correct direction in the machine. Once that is confirmed and it still does not pick up the bobbin thread, then the machine is probably out of time (the needle and bobbin are not meeting at the right time to interconnect). Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

SOURCE: Needle won't pick up bobbin thread - HELP!!!

I recently fixed my wife maching with the same problem. I found that the screw had come loose that holds the linkage together that rotates the bobbin holder. I was fortunate enough to notice the screw while looking at the machine. To replace it requires taking both the front and back covers off of the frame since the bobbin holder linkage is in the rear behind the needle area. Be careful to insure that the plastic toothed "rail" that runs the bobbin holder is positioned properly or it may break off a tooth. Once I replaced the screw and put the machine back together, it picked up the thread with no problem. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Viking 6020 kicks the bobbin case out

Hi,
Check with allbrands.com - they have LOTS of resources and if you can't find it - you can call and they have lots of great ideas.

Also - ebay has a seller who owns and LOVES sewing machines. He is located in California - so he has a wealth of population base to help you search.

His SELLER NAME on ebay is craigthecat - just do a search and you will find him.

EBAY also has many "for parts" machines - I sure "stick and brick" sellers also have lots of old machines they just sell out the parts.

Glad it was just the thread - happy sewing

SOURCE: Bobbin thread issue on new machine

Have you got the stitch width selector on zero ? If not, it may be wanting to sew a small zig zag........if that is OK, ....

Make up some samples of the problems, call the dealer and arrange to take it back to show them the results and either have it adjusted, or show you what needs to be set where to achieve the results you need...........it is under warantee, and you should expect it to function correctly.

I would not advise you fiddle with anything other than tensions and stitch selector on such a new machine.

Ask if you can have a 15min familiarisation lesson on the machine........we actually offer 3 x 30min free lessons on the use of a new machine so our customers can get the maximum benefit from their purchase.

It has proven to be a good business decision, as we get fewer frustrated phone calls and folks actually go and use the machines properly from day one.

SOURCE: needle thread breaks while quilting on machine frame

I think you might have better luck if you use 40 or 50 weight thread.

Model 466. Why doesn't it pick up bobbin thread?

This means the rotary hook is not catching the top thread and looping it around the bobbin.

Be sure the needle is not bent and top thread is properly threaded. Be sure needle is properly oriented and seated in the needle bar.

Be sure you have bobbin properly wound, inserted, and threaded per machine instructions.

Try cleaning hook and race area if still having trouble.

If it was working fine and it recently broke a needle and/or jammed, the timing may have slipped.

I have a brother ls-2150 I can't pick cotton up from the bobbin

Try installing a brand new needle (verify it is installed correctly). If it still does not pick up the bobbin thread, the needle/hook may be out of time, requiring service.

Bobbin won't spin to allow needle to catch thread

sometimes when you break a needle it can cause the machine to

Needle won't pick up bobbin thread

check to make sure that the needle was put into the needle holder correctly
all the way up into the needle holder--flat side of the needle to the back side of the machine
if the machine still doesn't up the bobbin thread then
it's possible that when the needle broke that it caused the machine to go out of time which means it has to be retime at a sewing machine shop

I broke a needle and now it wont pick up bobbin tread

Hello

Make sure the needle is facing in the correct direction, stitches don't form, or skip badly when the needle is turned around.

Put the bobbin in the bobbin case (right way around) leaving a 2-3" tail.

Thread the top of the machine correctly, leaving a 3-4" tail after threading the needle.

make certain your bobbin in locked into position in it's case and the thread is coming from the bobbin in the correct direction. When holding my metal bobbin in my hand, the thread pulls counter clockwise before placing it into my front loading bobbin case.

Also check if the needle is not properly installed in the needle bar,the machine is not threaded properly or the machine needs adjustment or repair..

Top thread will not pick up the bobbin thread

Timing is off, is is possible that you broke a needle or sewed over a pin. timing needs to be re set by a professional.

Top thread won't pick up the bobbin thread

re insert the needle, maybe you did not put the needle up as far as it is to go. Make sure the flat side of the needle is to the back of the machine. Without any thread in the machine hand turn the wheel and look to see if the hook of your bobbin would/could catch the thread (to see if timing is right)
then thread the machine and hand turn the wheel and see what it is doing.
Your timing might be off, but I do not think that is likely. Though it is possible that when the needle fell out, it hit something hard, broke, and pushed the machine out of timing. then you need to bring it in.

Not picking up the Bobbin thread

Sounds like you have to take off the throat plate and clean out threads under it.  Sometime they ball up and prevent the needle from going down and catching the bobbin thread. You can't see themuntil you take off the plate.  Follow the directions.  It is easy.
