When it doesnt start does it crank? if it cranks all day and doesnt start spray some starting fluid in the throttle body and see if it starts and then if it dies then you are not getting enough fuel pressure but if it doesnt start then your iginiton system is acting up or your crankshaft sensor could be bad

I could very well be the TPS throttle position sensor acting up. I had a very similar situation on a 99 Concorde with the same engine in it in my shop today. Go to a shop that is able to do a data stream on the engine. What it is, is they hook up a scanner and have the ability to watch all the sensors as the car starts/runs.

Probably bad instrument cluster very common problem on Dodge trucks. They also have issue with outside power distribution box.

The crankshaft position sensors tend to fail. Symptoms of this are: The engine will crank—but not start—especially when the engine is warm. The car may start again if it is left to cool off, but it may run roughly or have poor performance. Communicating these specific symptoms to your technician can save diagnostic time.

it is best to remove the pwr st. pump and vaccum pump assy as a unit which is held to the front cover w/2 15mm head bolt and a support bracket on the bottom bolt next to the block @ the pwr st pump. and disconnect all lines. get the seal kit and replace them @ this time. if you don't and just replace the pump you will probably develop an oil leak where the shaft meshes w/ the adapter.
