About a month ago I spilt a little bit of milk in my Acer Aspire 5520 keyboard and having poured out the 10ml of milk I thought that would be the end of it. A couple of days later the right arrow key started to press itself randomly, and upon trying to fix that problem the arrow key then stopped working altogether. I now use a USB keyboard, which is fine. Then the right arrow key an hour or two ago (after two weeks of not working at all) started being permanently pressed down again, and I (foolishly) tried to break it permanently by scraping the sensor with nail scissors. It's still 'pressed down' and as you can imagine, is driving me crazy when going about everyday computery things.
My question is more simple than that ramble above... how do you disable the main laptop keyboard, and substitute the USB keyboard in its place? I'm sure there should be a way to do this, as I doubt noone else has ever 'milked' their laptop! I have Windows Vista, and was told to go into 'device manager', but every time I click on a device I'm not really able to alter it as such... it just tells me 'this device is working properly'. :( Please help someone!
Only solution here is to unplug the keyboard from the mother board. Just take apart the case and look for the ribbon cable going from the keyboard to the motherboard, and take it out. Please rate, thanks!

button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL"
keys at the same time.
2. During startup, hold down the "F8" function key
immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering
"Setup."
3. Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot
Options" menu appears.
If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire
and repeat step 2.
4. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode"
selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the
Acer Aspire keyboard.
5. Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode"
selection.
The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode"
and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer
Aspire to boot normally again.

1. Click "Start," "Turn Off Computer" and then "Restart", if it is on.
If your computer is off, turn it on by pressing the power button above
the keyboard.
2. Press the "F2" function key on your computer's keyboard to enter the BIOS utility.
3. Use the laptop's right arrow key to scroll to "Main." Confirm that
the "D2D Recovery" is "Enabled." If the D2D option is "Disabled," scroll
down to the option using the down arrow key. Press "Enter" to change the option to "Enabled."
4. Use the laptop's right arrow key to scroll to "Exit." The "Exit
Saving Changes" option will be highlighted. Press "Enter" to save the
settings and exit the BIOS utility. Your Acer Aspire will restart.
Reformatting the Acer Aspire
1. Press the "ALT" and "F10" keys together while your computer is
restarting and the Acer logo is showing to enter the Acer Aspire's
reformatting utility.
2. Follow the on-screen prompts. Your laptop's hard drive will reformat
and the original applications will be reinstalled. Your computer will
restart after the reformatting process is complete.
3. Enter your name and other personal information when prompted during the Windows operating system setup process.
Simply press the WiFi on/off key (it's the first key from left to right, between the "Power" button and the laptop's keyboard). A message should appear on the screen telling about the WiFi adpter's state (on or off).
you can pull the keys out of their sockets and wipe the rubber and plastic holders with a wet cloth. but be very carefull to cloth should not leak, just be wet to dissolve and absorbe the sugar and other stuff that stick the keys. then just insert the keys in the sockets
