I opened up my A/C (which was a used gift from someone) to find there is a piece of styrofoam inside it. Is it part of the machine or do I take it out? Thanks.

Styrofoam is used to to help isolate parts that are between area that have significantly different temperatures on either side. It helps to keep them from buckling AND reduces condensation and rust.

As long as the moving parts (fan blades, etc.) aren't rubbing against it and it's not flopping around in the air stream - leave it alone.

Frigidaire model fftr1835vs styrofoam inside filter housing unit. Should it be there?

Not 100%certain to what styrofoam you are referring to but there is definitely styrofoam components inside the machine. The entire drain pan is made of styrofoam, I would not touch it.

Good Morning Friend,

I understand the ice maker was jammed on your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FGHB2844L. I also see that when you pulled the tray out, there was a 3 inch plastic piece with a piece of styrofoam on it. Now there is a white cord hanging inside the ice maker. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to determine what exactly is needed to repair your ice maker. Hope this is helpful.

I have a Dell A960. There is a piece of styrofoam jammed at the base of the paper intake feed and I can't get to it. Is there something I can remove to access it? Opening the printer top doesn't...

I don't know if that printer has a rear access panel, so here's a little trick....uncurl a thin paperclip, putting a loop at one end for your finger, and a barb bend at the other end (think of the sharp part of a fish hook) at the other end, Use the hook to grab and remove the Styrofoam.
Another solution, although more tricky and potentially dangerous, is to put some crazy glue on the end of a piece of cardboard, and try to glue the end of the cardboard to the Styrofoam and gently remove the cardboard, hopefully with the styro in tow!

I need to replace the styrofoam form for my primo viaggio seat. I believe the part is mmsp0008

Hi, I figured I would post the outcome since I was searching for resolutions last night. I called Peg Perego. The piece that is cracked on mine (the top of the center section of the headrest) can be replaced with a new headrest piece for $32.99 (including shipping). The new piece does not have stryofoam though. It's just a heavier material (almost pillow-like). The representative that I spoke to, however, said that if the styrofoam was a clean break (meaning not in a whole bunch of pieces) it's still safe to keep it together under the cover and use the car seat as normal. Apparently, that's not what's really protecting the baby anyway. To be honest, I don't even think that I broke the styrofoam while taking the cover off, I think it was broken beforehand probably by just use and the weight of the baby. I will get some styrofoam glue and duct tape and just secure it and put my sparkly clean cover back over top of it. I think it's fine for use. Thanks and good luck to others with this issue out there!

Need to access inside of Carrier air conditioner.

After removing the cover and filter, you should be able to see the fins for cleaning. If there is styrofoam in front of the coil, it should not be there for proper operation.

I need to replace a battery in the Black & Decker CMM1000 cordless lawn mover but I can't find any directions. Can someone help me?

The battery in my CMM1000, purchased in 2003, finally gave up early in the summer of 2009. I bought a replacement battery at the local DeWalt store for about $140 including tax. The original battery was comprised of two Panasonic 12Volt, 20Amp-hour units in series. The replacement battery is comprised of two BR 12Volt, 17Amp-hour batteries in series. To replace the battery, simply remove two Torx screws toward the front on top of the black cover and two more, one on each side of the cover down next to the orange base toward the rear. It is not necessary to remove the two screws near the charge indicating meter. Cut the first two or three tiewraps holding the "throttle" cable to the push handle so as provide some slack. Lift the black cover up and over the height adjusting handle. Do that and everything else to be described here while working from the opposite side of the machine. The cover will not come all the way off and it is not necessary for it to do so. It will lift up far enough to allow removal of two pieces of styrofoam, one between the battery and the motor, the other between the battery and the inside rear of the housing, and the battery. The battery is held down by a fabric strap that is attached to the base of the machine with a screw on each side. Remove the one opposite the height adjuster. The battery will then be "loose" except for the two electrical wires that connect it to the machine. Lift and rotate the battery so as to present easy access to the terminals. I used my B&D drill motor with the appropriate socket to remove the flanged nuts retaining the cables. The battery can be removed from the machine once the cables are disconnected. Reverse the above procedures to install the new battery. Important note: The throttle cable has to go under the front styrofoam piece... the black cover will not go all the way down until the cable is in the right place. One might be tempted to push harder and that could lead to real trouble, so be sure the cable is under the styrofoam. The CMM1000 is an excellent machine in my opinion, and the ton or so that it weighs provides a good workout for me that I personally enjoy.
