Problem can be caused by dirty fuel (jets in carby blocked) need to clean carby or even put a kit through it.

SOURCE: Engine only runs at low idle and smokes

Hi,
So now, without the blades engaged, it smokes and then dies?
In your first description it sounded like the engine was under a strain. Overfilling with oil could produce a strain, but since it ran ok until you said you engaged the blades, I would have to ask if the blades themselves, were causing the strain. Sometimes if you cut wet grass, the clippings stick to your underside of the deck and can really build up. Also some rope, wire or twine would around the spindles could creat one. Check this out...
Now, with the "smoke" issue (I'm assuming a blue smoke from burning oil) I'm inclined to think your rings aren't compressing any longer and you're burning oil. You might be in for a rebuild... I hope not.

SOURCE: I aqm having difficulty with

Hi, it sounds like the something is wrong with the electric clutch. It has a brake built into it that is supposed to stop the blades when the clutch is disengaged.
The clutch has a rotor attached to the engine shaft. The coil is inside the rotor toward the engine. There's a clutch disc attached by leaf springs to the pulley for the belt that drives the blades. There's a brake ring around the disc. When the clutch is engaged, the disc moves away from the brake ring and is held tight to the rotor.

I hit a metal pipe with my cub cadet zero turn lawn mower today. Now it smokes under the deck when I engage the blades and it is not cutting the grass. Have I ruined my mower?

You'll need to look under the deck w/ the mower not running and see why the blades aren't turning. Most likely something is bent (maybe blade) and hitting something. The smoke is probably from the belt slipping and getting hot.

Cub cadet rzt 50, hit stump, blades wont engage but not bent

The blades on this cub cadet are activated with air pressure. Chances are that when you hit that stump, you either blew a fuse or the control module that allows the blades to spin. Begin by checking the fuses. J.

Cub cadet Z Force 48 inch zero turn blades won't engage

I hope this will help you...under the side panels on each side of the mower, there are "reverse lockout safety switches", they are supposed to stop the blades when both handles are pulled back. If one or both of the switches are out, the deck will not engage. Also, under the right side panel (when sitting on seat) there should be 3 relay switches, the one closest to the motor controls the PTO., if this is out, the PTO will not engage.
