Hey. My camera turns on and was taking pictures fine, but for the past few times, I think the flash hasn't been working properly as the photos having been coming out black. Immediately after I take a black photo though (even with a forced flash), it immediately takes a good photo after... so I'm not sure what is going on..... also... I was trying to upload photos to my laptop which is never usually a problem, but when I turn the computer on, it gives me the menu, I pick to download to computer, and then it says 'please wait' (or what ever it says) but nothing changes, and if I go into 'my computer' the laptop doesn't recognise that it has a camera attached. I've even bought another cable in case it was the cable that was broken... but its still not working. As I say, never had a problem before, and not had any drops / knocks and no obvious reason why its suddenly changed..... Look forward to hearing from you.

SOURCE: screen is black for photo taking

Not really a solution, but I think you have the same problem I do. I believe that the shutter is sticking. Mine will work for one shot every 3 or 5 power cycles (turn it off and on again)

The problem you are describing is a problem with one of the chips in the camera that controls image processing. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $103.85 plus your local sales tax. SOURCE: When taking pictures outside bright white photos

I suspect that the film speed is set incorrectly. You need to change the value of the ISO from the menu button near the LCD. Scroll through the menu till you come to ISO ( on film cameras this was the old ASA) for low light conditions one pushed the ASA to a higher rating like ASA 400 which was more sensitive to light, thus better pics in a low light environment.

So you need the opposite and so 100 ASA ( ISO) should help you take better pics in bright sunlight.. you can go as low as 64 if your camera has a setting that low.
Apertures will be different for each ISO value selected so when you look through the lens you will see numbers like F16 in the display ir F8 in a lower light situation.
Rule of thumb
Larger the number smaller the aperture ( sharper the image and for bright light situations
Lower the number larger the aperture to let in more light

average light F8 and this is usually the one the flash selects

Use your manual to learn how to manipulate the ISO and your manual selection of apertures. Your photos wilol improve 100%

I have a nikon 55-200mm lens for the D40X digital camera. The pictures I take are blurred. I use the auto settings. the 18-55mm lens works fine and there are no problems with the picture clarity. Is the...

One of a few things might be happening
1. Photos being taken at high zoom (i.e. 200mm) are susceptible to camera shake, even though the lens is focusing properly. The solution here is use a tripod, zoom out, or steady yourself.
2. Photos being taken without flash when flash should really be used will result in motion blur (which is slightly different than camera shake). This is due to the camera using a longer shutter speed to let more light in, with the side effect being that objects will move while the shutter is open, blurring the picture. The solution here is to use a flash, or take pictures in better light.
3. The camera may be focusing on something other than what you intended.
3. If you are taking photos in good light with a steady hand, and the camera is choosing the correct subject to focus on, then yes, the lens could need readjusted, though this is not a very likely scenario.
If the lens is "hunting" for focus, that could be a sign that something is amiss.
A local camera shop can verify the accuracy of focus for your lens.

Sometimes when i'm taking picture my flash wont stop blinking for a few seconds.

The 400D uses flash assisted focusing. In low light conditions the auto focus cannot get a focus lock so it pops the flash a few times so the lens has a chance to focus. You will notice this will go away when in the manual focus mode (the switch on the side of the lens).

The only way around this problem (as people in a photo think the photo has already been taken and looks away when the camera actually takes the picture) is to use a hotshoe mounted TTL Canon Speedlight (430ex or 580ex) which use an infra-red focussing beam.

Nikon S210 flash not working

The flash has been working fine until last night when I tried to take a picture and the flash was set to auto. When I press the button the little red light beside the flash sign lights up, but the camera does not take the photo. When I set it to flash mode, it still won't take a photo. When I turn off the flash, then it does. What could be the problem? Is it in the settings?

Black pictures when using flash

The black images with flash mean that the Iris mechanism in the lens is not working properly, and that needs a professional camera repair service.

The Flash on my camera won't work

When taking pictures, you must really be allowing time for the camera's flash to be charged
before you could take another picture so that camera will have enough time to rest and it
could function normally.
But if the camera was dropped, then it's really causing those kinds of issues like flash will not work properly.

You could still try these steps below:

First, do the POWER RESET:
- Turn off camera
- Remove batteries for a minute
- Reload batteries
- Turn on camera

Second, do the MASTER RESET
- Be in AUTO mode
- Press on MENU button
- Press on the right button until you see SETUP 2
- Scroll down until you see RESET
- Press the right button to pick up on YES or NO
- Press on OK/MENU button for changes to be saved
- Turn off camera for a few seconds so that settings will be refreshed

Turn it on and take a picture.
When you want to have just the AUTO FLASH.

- Rotate the mode dial to PROGRAM
- Press the LEFT/FLASH button until you've seen the
LIGHTNING icon with the Letter A on the leftmost part of the screen
- Try to take a picture by pressing and holding the shutter button
halfway first for 3-5 seconds and then press it all the way down

Camera Wont turn on and blue light flashes

The possible answer is that batteries are past thier best now and even a 'full' charge is not delivering enough power. treat your self to new batteries.

White Screen

I have Fuji FinePix 2650 Digital camera with same problem. I can almost guarantee this is not a firmware problem. I went mountain biking a few months ago and take pictures. I take out camera and turn on. I get lines then white screen. I banged on camera and fixed it. Later a few weeks ago I turn it on and white screen. i beat this thing and get bad menu selection screen for a moment then white again. It takes pictures well and talk to computer no problem but no LCD picture. I thinking it is loose connection for LCD. Send it for repair or if you seek adventure try to fix it yourself!
