There are a variety of probable causes of your AC's failure to blow cool air. Unfortunately, it is difficult to diagnose your situation without being there. However, I have a great, handy diagnostic article that specifies the main problems so that you can definitely come to find the cause applicable to your AC's failure. I'm not too familiar with RV AC's and how they may differe a bit from house AC's, but your AC very well may need a recharge of refrigerant/Freon by a technician, but short of that, try this first:

This should defintely help.
Good luck!

SOURCE: if i am in the process of buying a generator to

You need to find out the maxamps of the rooftops which is located on each unit, then you will need to find out if these are 1phase, 2phase or 3phase units.
That information is also located on the unit and usually is marked 1P or 2P or 3P. If its 3Phase you
would need to talk to a electrical contractor or the
manufactuer of the generator you wish to purchace.

More in for is needed on the phase of the unit and amps that it draws

How many watts are needed to start the aircon unit

The minimum wattage needed to start a air-conditioning unit is usually 3000 watts but there can't be anything else at all using power at the time. If this is on an RV there are components such as the refrigerator, water heater, power inverter and house battery charger that will automatically start when the RV is connected to the generator. These may need to be manually shut off sometimes at the main power box.

We have a portable honda cycloneverter 3000 is this big enough to run our air conditioner

Your generator has a label specifying the Watts, and so does your AC unit, just compare, if the W in the AC is higher than the generator W, do not try it.

How many watts does it need to run the airconditioner. Is a honda 3000 good enough

You can check the AC unit, it will tell you how much electricity it needs. Likely 15 or 20 amps. That's about 1500 or 2000 watts. What does your generator supply?

My 3000 watt honda generator doesn't seem to put out the proper power

http://cdn.powerequipment.honda.com/pe/pdf/manuals/31ZT7601.pdf

I would check spark arrester and clean it and the muffler first.lt could be the inverter unit. If you have a meter determine the output voltage, and freq. You would need a scope to look at waveform the repair should be lest to a repair center. suggest you call Honda for more guidance.
You could spend a lot of money on maybe parts./

I need to install my inverter 18 feet from my battery

a very thick one,,,like a baby battery lead on your car,,,its a very bad idear to have it so far away from the battery point, you would be far better off finding a closer place to put it as the volts drop off would have a big drop in out put on the inverter,,,also thats one big mother of a fridge to use 3000 watts????
you need a small power station to run it,,and if it do use 3000 watts your inverter is far to small to do the job, read the out put plate on the inverter,,it says 3000 watts max? not all the time,,,,thats about 2000 watts realy running contently and the whire to feed the inverter will need to carry about 30 amps so your car battery is say 90 amp hours plus the volts drop off, you would be lucky to have the inverter running for 3-4 hours before your battery go's is very flat on you!
