Our GE Profile JTP18 Single Electric Wall Oven (30") has been flashing "Door Lock" and the locking mechanism keeps engaging and disengaging, ever since we ran a Self Clean. We've had a repair man out who has replaced the entire control panel, the touch panel, and the locking mechanism. He just told me he was giving up and going to have another repair company take a look at it. The Control Panel will only respond to the Self Clean button, the Clear button, or one of the timers (Kitchen or Cook Timer seem to work), and the Oven Light. The door will open if you catch it while the lock is disengaged. Any help would be great. We've been w/o an oven for just over three weeks, and we have three growing kids to feed.

If “LOCKED DOOR” is flashing in the display of your range or oven, and the self-clean cycle has not been selected, follow the steps below to reset your control:

If the oven is flashing "LOCKED DOOR" on the display. even though the door is open, the fix is easy and there is no need for repair.
Press and hold the oven light button on the left side of the oven door jam through the entire process.
Press the self clean button, then the start button.
Wait about fifteen seconds, then press the clear/off button.
release the oven light switch and you are back in business.
My heart goes out to those who paid for service or repaced parts.
This totally fixed my GE Profile double oven! It was flashing f2 after a cleaning! We ordered a new temperature sensor but it was still flashing "locked" even though the oven was not locked.
The sensor let it clean but we had the door shut! When we came across this tip, we did exactly what you said! THANK YOU for saving us $$$

After self clean my oven Lock light was flashing the actual lock was engaging and disengaging non stop. try this it worked for me when none of the other things worked. Shut off the breaker. Open the control panel. Behind the auto lock mechanism there are two small circular things. One has two yellow wires going into it and the other has two blue wires going into it. pull the yellow wires and reverse them. Then pull the blue wires and reverse them. The turn the breaker back on. The lock stopped engaging and disengaging and the light went off. the oven is now working
This just happened to us out of the blue. The oven had been running and all of a sudden a beeping started and the "door lock" message started to flash.
I tried one of the simple solutions I found here. At the top right of the frame of the oven there is a black button (looks like a short peg or dowel). When the door is closed, that button is depressed. I read online to press that button for 10 seconds or so. I did that and I noticed that the door latch moved on its own. It shifted from its right-most position to its left-most position. When it came to rest, the error message went off and I could use the oven again.
You are demi-gods of repair to me now. I did exactly what you said and it worked!!!!! Now I can cancel that repair service I scheduled. All Hail Google Search!!!!

I had this problem on a JTP18 oven. I found that the door lock switch
was showing that the door was locked when it was actually open. This is
not the main door open / closed switch. This is the switch that shows
if the door is locked or not.
The switch is open when the door is locked and the switch is closed (or should be closed) when the door is unlocked.
In my case the switch was open even though the door was not locked.
On my JTP18 oven, the switch was too the left of the door lock
mechanism. To access the door lock mechanism I had to remove the
control panel.
I forced the switch closed manually (using a cable tie) and the
blinking locked light went away and the oven operated properly. Of
course, the door lock switch must be replaced.
Amazing. I've searched across the web, and this "locked door" problem appears to be a DESIGN FLAW across the entire product line: if you run the self-cleaning cycle, it WILL trigger this problem and despite the suggestion of a wide range of "self-help" strategies, the only real solution is to pay for a service call (and then, it appears, paying for a new control unit and probably an additional service call to have it installed, and then more service calls if the same problem occurs). We have a JGB900BEF2BB GE Profile range, and of course we've run through all the self-help suggestions at geappliances.com and on a dozen other web sites like this one.
The door switch (black plunger in upper left corner) on the upper oven of my GE double oven model JB850SF1SS was stuck after running a clean cycle. Depressed it manuallybin and out a couple times and all is good.
I tried all this nonsense and none of it worked and then I pushed the metal latch hook that locks the door with my finger, which apparently moved it a few millimeters back to the unlocked position and the flashing lock on the display stopped. This means there is a sensor on the metal hook that tells what position it is in. If it is just barely off the unlocked position it think it's locked and flashes locked.
Had the same problem on a GE Profile JCB909 range. The solution was simple but it was a little more complicated to get at the locking mechanism. First I had to remove the glass range top. I followed the instructions on the wiring diagram that came with the range: Unplug, remove two screws at front, lift front and prop up a couple of inches, remove two connectors at back, lift off hinges, remove ground wire (green) near back of range top. Lift range top off and set aside. Remove metal piece at front, 6 screws. Now you can see the locking switch. I use a multi meter to check the switches. Okay. Then I plugged the range back in, pushed in the black oven door open swithc on the left side. The locking mechanism cycled but the unlocked switch did not change state. It wasn't pushed in quite far enough. I simply bent the bracket holding the motor and the switches up a 1/32" on the switch side. That fixed the problem! The switch works. The flashing LOCKED is off. 15 minutes later the whole thing is back together. Repair time: 1 hour. Repair cost $0.00.
It was a "reset" switch in behind the control panel that went off when the self clean cycle increased the temperature in the area behind the control panel got too hot. After flipping the breaker, and then flipping it back on the oven finally unlocked. I pulled the control panel off and pushed the reset switch. Everything fired back up great. I just won't use the Self-Clean ever again.
