Have two polycom Ex's - one of the units no longer has a dial tone when plugged in. It still "lights up" and shows solid green light when booted. Have swapped power supplies and other unit works fine (boots then provides dial tone). On non-functional unit can hear sounds when dialing. Thoughts?
Someone in our office recently damaged the RJ-45 cable for our
Polycom Soundstation. Because the jack was damaged I could not
determine the order of the cables. After a call to polycom, we found
the pinout information we needed - so I thought I would share, in case
anyone else finds themselves in a similar situation:
With the RJ-45 prong pointing down the wires, from left to right are:
Then Crimp and test. I got this information directly from Polycom
for use with the Polycom Soundstation. This information was not easy to
get. They originally told me they could not provide the information and
I would have to buy a power adapter. This is not true, just trim the
cable and follow the above instructions.
Just an update: a friend lent me his (identical) Policom Soundstation with AC adapter and both attached cables. When I switched his ac adapter for mine and plugged in, my phone suddenly had a dial tone (and works nicely since) -- which makes clear, that the problem is with the power adapter, not the phone unit.
So I´ll be trolling Ebay for an adapter. I would still love to know what went wrong with the power adapter, though.
Try replacing the telephone connector that plugs into the wall. ours was loose, and wasn't making connection. Replaced the connector, and dial tone!
What kind of telephone cord is this supposed to use? It cannot plug in into a regular standard telephone plugin like it says in the users manual?
Thanks,
James
Trying to make a new cable for a Soundstation Ex with a cut power cord.
I definitely need a cable pinout diagram WITH color codes.
The cable has 8 conductors:
Black, Brown, Red, Orange, yellow, green, blue, white
I need to connect those to an RJ connector.
Wonder if I should just follow the standard color code pattern, pin 1 BBROYGB ?
Ditto! must be a common problem. Anyone have any internal schematic manuals of the guts? With an internal schematic, I could probably figure it out.
Reset the ATA converter, if you have one, and wait a few minutes before checking to see if there is a dial tone. These phones take a minute or so to configure with the ATA before you can use. Turning the phone on during this process will result in the phone not properly configurating.

Same problem, I get a display and the connection bong when I plug it in, but no dial tone.

The lights go on, but there is no tone...
I checked to make sure all connections were tight.
Have the same problem. Will light up but no dial tone when plugged into a jack that normally uses a phone with multiple user rooms "attatched" to it. Works great in a home enivornment. Anyone have a user guide? We bought it on Ebay.
same problem, although i can dial out and it connects to my cell phone, but cannot hear anything from the clearone conference phone.
any help is appreciated.
Same problem - No dial tone or sounds from the Polycom speaker but I can dial my cell phone and when I answer I can hear the Polycom picking up voices in the room, but nothing out of the Polycom speakers.
unit is plugged in, lights are flashing, no dial tone, can not dial out. How can we reset the unit?
What kind of telephone cord is coming out of the Wall Module? I assume that it cannot plug in to a regular standard telephone wall socket? Do I need to get a special wall socket for this phone?
Thanks,
James
have tested the outlet for power as well as the telephone cable & both are functional with other products. by looking at the console cable it doesn't appear to be damaged either. problem is, when the module (with both cables properly inserted, and telephone cable connected to working analog phone line) is plugged into a functioning power outlet, the SoundStation2 console does not light up or get a dial tone when connected to this console. any suggestions to figure out which part needs replacing?!
