The vcm for my 1991 jaguar xj6 reads fail 46 what does that mean

fuelfail37 is a egr problem it should not be there on your aj6 engined car has its not got a egr valve? on a uk spec it has not got one. car in the us spec it may have one in which case its siezed/stuck or the solenoid or wiring to it is at fault.try and clear it by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then reconnect

Code 44 means that the oxygen sensor is signaling the computer that the fuel mixture is bad - too rich or too lean.

a fuse is blown press the vcm button and it will tell you which fuse

this has to do with the engines ability to warm up and meter the fuel. either the thermostat is sticking or the coolant temp sensor is out of range. there are 2 of them at least, one for the guage and one for the pcm. if you find it is the t-stat sticking, replace with jaguar parts.

my manual says fuel fail 14 deals with yourr coolant temperature sensor is no in operating range

code 24 is the ignition amplifier circuit

The PAO you see on your dash in the VCM (Vehicle Condition Monitor) *is really* -PAD-.

I had the same beacon on my 1991 XJ6, it refers to the brake pads being worn.

Fuse 3 is a notice that there is a misbehaving fuse in your 3rd fuse box, which is located inside the center console (armrest)

Fuel Fail 24 is the code for the Ignition Amplifier Module. These are very difficult to find for older Jags because Jaguar does not make them anymore. I also do not know of any aftermarket companies that make them new. I do know you can get a remanufactured one from www.jagbits.com. It will cost you somewhere around $300 but without it, the car is junk. If you need any information on replacing it, let me know, and I will be glad to walk you through it.

Fuel fail 46 is emission related and if I remember is related to the oxygen sensor/catalyst. I would reset the code by disconnecting the battery for 45 second and if it comes back on then start with a proper diag.

this is the most common error code, just means the one of the nods in fuel pump misfired, on every model other than the ones for usa market, after clearing the error code on vcm the check engine light would reset. for our cars its programmed to stay on.
also get fail 17 fuel 17 same thing
it will not effect the running of the car or its performance
may run a little rich
