Samsung DMT400RHB Builtin Dishwasher Logo

I've only had this dishwasher for two years. All of a sudden, I started getting an overfill error (the Heavy and Smart Auto lights flash). I have tried cleaning the drain, and still cannot figure out what is wrong. Sometimes, it will stop at the beginning of the cycle, sometimes in the middle, then sometimes it will make it through an entire cycle without stopping. We pulled the DW out of the cabinet, and drained the water in the air brake. I ran it for about three cycles before I started having trouble again. The pump seems to be working fine... Any ideas on what the problem might be?

SOURCE: My DMR78AHS dishwasher stopped washing. It runs

I had the same problem. My solution was to remove the bottom portion of the inside of dishwasher to reveal the cutting blade under the washer impeller. There was a small obstruction blocking the cutting blade and impeller. I removed this, a small piece of plastic im my case, and re-assembled. It washes well now ! Note: be careful seperating the parts there are 'o' rings that can be easily stretched out fo shape between parts.

Samsung dishwasher will only start to drain at the beginning of the normal cycle, no water, then the smart auto light starts to flash

A Samsung Dishwasher flashing the Smart Auto light indicates a Water Supply Error (Not Enough Water) has been detected by the internal electronic diagnostics.

The dishwasher starts then the light for normal and smart auto comes on flashing.

The flashing lights are error codes. I need the model number of the unit to make a more accurate diagnosis--usually, each light will blink a certain number of times telling you what the error code number is. You will either have to post that number on this site or look up your model number, and the error codes list.

What causes a Samsung dishwasher to flash heavy and smart auto on control panel

Hello. The lights you describe are an error code that means over-level filling (overflow condition) and/or the leakage sensor underneath has detected water. You need to check underneath the unit for any moisture. There is a leakage sensor located at the center of the base, underneath the unit. If it detects water, it will notify the main board which will stop the unit until the condition is cleared.

Why on the Samsung DTM400 series dishwasher are normal heavy and smart/auto lights all flashing?

That's a High-temp Heating Error. It's usually caused by a bad ECS sensor. You will need to call a professional repairman to replace it. (I recommend Sears).

Why does the Heavy and smart auto lights flash simultaneously after cycle starts?

It means "over-level water error". Usually caused by a bad case-brake assembly.

Low water level

I have a Samsung DMT400RHS and I started getting the low water level error ('Normal'+Heavy'+Smart Auto' LED blinking). The error started intermittently a few weeks ago, but the the last day or two the problem was solid, and simply restarting the cycle no longer worked.
I looked of the code in the dishwasher user guide and it said 'low water level.' Searched the internet and located the repair manual at tradebit.com for $15. The manual was well worth the $15.
The manual suggested: 1) loose level sensor connector 2) Faulty Assy case sensor or stuck floater aka 'remove foreign matter' 3) Bad Main PBA assy.
Since we do 10+ loads a week for the last 18 months the stuck floater seemed to be the most likely cause.
Go to Samsung DMT400RHS Low Water Level Error ('Normal'+Heavy'+Smart Auto' LED) (new link is https://photos.google.com/album/AF1QipNtp1neOR7icVG8cSs71bLpxQD5k_xljiWcJD2P click the i on each picture to see the caption - DM 04/17/2016) to see the pictures and read the captions documenting what I did. Do this at your own risk. You must turn off and disconnect the electric power and turn off the water supply before you begin.
