No power Sony Handycam Model CCD-FX620

Is there a fuse I need to check on the Sony Handycam Model CCD-FX620. I've replaced the CR2025 wafer battery and have a fully charged Duracell rechargable battery, but the camera is dead. No digital display no viewer, no door ejection, nothing at all.

There are fuses ,but they are small solder in types, all fx series camcorder have a common problem with the rear power board working it's way loose and unplugging itself from the main board. these units have alot of solder connection issue due to sony's use of poor solder back in the earily 90's

Question about Sony Handycam CCD-TRV85

The CR2025 is to hold memory, but it may also run the operating system memory. All the batteries need to be good. Also try cleaning the main battery contacts and those inside the camera.

Check that there is power coming out of the mains adapter and the level battery power using a multimeter. After 10 years the battery will likely be defective.

How do you remove the 3V lithium battery (flat disc) from the Sony Handycam Video 8 model? The lens doesn't open when turned on, either on mains or battery power.

The battery is located on the side case where the LCD closes. To remove the battery just push down a little and pull out. Insert the new battery with the positive + side facing out. Replacement battery should be CR2025 or DL2025.

However, this battery is only for the date and time. It does not affect the operation of your camcorder. It sounds like you have an issue with either your lens or your main board. If the camcorder has been sitting unused for a long time, sometimes the surface mount capacitors will start leaking onto the main board. Still a good chance that it is a problem with your lens though. Your iris may be stuck in the closed position or the imager could be bad. Any of these problems would need to be repaired by an experienced technician. The only thing that you can try to do yourself is to "bump" the bottom of the camcorder (under the lens and around your lens) with the palm of your hand to see if you can get the iris to open up.

Hope this helps you.
