Gets some rubbing alcohol and a some Q-Tips, clean all rollers, spindles, and playback record head, plus the erase head and allow several minutes to dry. If there is no improvement! the erase head is bad or the record section of the main head is faulty.
hello im a tech at a sony svc center and should the laser be weak and not just dusty a repair would be impractical as our labor is 90$ before the part cost.. from the picture it looks like a top loader in which case you could manually clean the laser with a simple q-tip---gently in a circle clean the lens dry q-tip no liquid .. also does it fail with different discs? if only with one that disc might be scratched ,dirty etc..
