SOURCE: My Dremel tool has intermittent power.

You can go to any repair facility and buy a replacement cord making sure of the wire guage and conductor (2 or 3) what you can do is make a wiring diagram and remove the old cord and holding the cord about 10 inches from end pull one wire at a time and if there is a break it will pull out to confirm your suspicion. Let me know if you need any more help and if I have answered your request would you please rate this response accordingly and thank you.

SOURCE: How do I attach tools to my Dremel?

hello. You loosen the arbor at the base of the shaft closest to the tool. There is a tiny wrench in the kit that came with the dremel, or you can use a pair of pliers to loosen it. Joe

Where can I get the speed control wheel for a Worksmith rotary tool?

If it's a knockoff your more then likely out if luck.
However I would go to the Dremel website and look at their parts and see if one might be compatible.
Those are meant to be tossed and not serviced though.
Good luck !

Dremel rotary tool variable speed, low speed speeds up after short use. Will brush replacement solve this issue?

How stable is your line voltage? The SCR phase control used for speed control is more sensitive to line voltage changes at low speeds than at high speeds. Brushes should be changed when they are worn down to about 1/2 of their original length. Much more than this and they don't have enough tension to properly contact the commutator ring. Check with power off when the tool is cold and slowly turn the chuck by hand to feel the resistance. Run it a while and let the bearings warm up. Turn off power and turn by hand again. If it feels looser when warm (which would cause it to speed up at slow speeds), the tool might need to be disassembled and bearings oiled. I use Dexron automatic transmission fluid to lube most motors. Wipe down any excess.

Why wont my dremel turn on??

1st ck to see that outlet has power on it by using a known good light (drop lights work great for this) next if tool is plugged into a foot pedal or speed control remove this and connect direct to outlet , activate switch on tool see if it runs

if not you most likely have a dammged brush on tool <this is very common i usually go thru two sets a year , brushes are available for dremels where ever dremel brand bits and tools are sold ck on back of package for your model number

if doing a lot of sanding or grinding allways make a habbit of blowing out air vents on tool body with a strong source of compressed air (canned air ok) this helps keep it going for years

Dremel multipro variable speed only starts in 4 or 5 speed

with tool unplugged rotate tool end with your finger tips if it gives any resistance to this your bearings have forign material in them (happens if your doing grinding allot) if a liberal dose of light oil (sewing machine) does not improve this friction im sorry but you;ll have to replace tool to run slower speeds

The variable speed switch on my demel is burnt out, will a layer of solder on top of it fix it?

I wouldn't recommend using solder in an attempt to recoat the electrical traces of the variable speed switch, rather, I'd get a replacement switch for it and do the repair correctly.

Trying to jerry-rig the switch like that could cause a more serious issue, like burning up the drive motor, etc.

Here's a place that has replacement parts (and a nice exploded drawing of the tool too) that should help you out. If the part isn't currently available from them, you can search elsewhere for another supplier.

http://www.ereplacementparts.com/dremel-400-xpr-variable-speed-rotary-tool-parts-c-15440_15456_15610.html

The switch part number is 2610920711.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

My Dremel 395 type 4 does not run until I spin the chuck and then only runs at high speed.

Sounds like a switch or brushes. You can go to Dremel.com and they have a toll free number for their tech services and you can also download a breakdown for this tool.
