Question about Lanier Office Equipment & Supplies

Error codes SC389and SC377 keep occurring and shut the printer down. Print quality is very bad and the colors are not working even though the cartridges were recently changed. This has been going on for a month or so. If you turn it back on, it might get through a couple of small print jobs.

All printers are not equal. Some utilize cartridges with ink reservoirs and print heads all in one. Some only have a Separate Print head carrier with a main print head and slots for ink-filled reservoirs. You can purchase and use less expensive cartridges from on line vendors. If you elect to refill carts, be prepared for a messy venture. What many printer users fail to recognize, is the print heads do wear out and prior to complete failure, the heads either cause streaking or poor color density. To clean a print head, run under the tap for a few minutes, very hot water on both sides , metal bars and where the ink enters. When all signs of ink have vanished, replace in the printer. Do not touch metal contacts as oil will interrupt electrical communications. Do a printer test and alignment. Should work.

hi,

as you are using a refilled cartridge, it is causing this problem. the thickness of ink in a hp genuine cartridge and a refilled cartridge varies. and also the refilled cartridge may make your printer faulty. so it is good to try with a new hp genuine ink cartridges.

SOURCE: Print faded after replacing black cartridge Brother 240C

The print heads don't appreciate being out of ink so the Brother printer has sensors to prevent that but the tape defeated that prevention. Maybe more cleanings or maybe a cartridge with printhead cleaning solution will help. Otherwise, I fear a new printer.

I had the same problem, but after pressing the OK button when the paper jam came up again I pressed the CANCEL button and was able to print my document. See if that works for you too.

I keep getting error 50 or error 51 and the screen says unable to print. I have followed the instructions of customer service and cleaned the coding band and checked for paper specs to no avail. I...


normally you will need to let the printer know that you have preformed any maintenance on it by clearing the error count after such an error occurs and is fixed it is normally listed under general or service options on the printer menu but you may need to look through the users manual

HP3500 all colors are printing too light - black is gray, blue is light blue, red is pink, etc. All cartridges are full, no error message on printer


Calibration is a printer function that optimizes print quality. If experiencing any print quality problems, calibrate the printer.
  1. Press (Select) to enter the MENUS .
  2. Press (Down arrow) to highlight CONFIGURE DEVICE .
  3. Press (Select) to select CONFIGURE DEVICE .
  4. Press (Down arrow) to highlight PRINT QUALITY .
  5. Press (Select) to select PRINT QUALITY .
  6. Press (Down arrow) to highlight CALIBRATE NOW .
  7. Press (Select) to select CALIBRATE NOW .
  8. Wait for the printer to calibrate.

Streaking occurs from top to bottom of page. Changed the black cartridge (streaking is black). Any ideals for this HP CP3525dn:


I had the same problem and it turned out to be the ETB (Electrostatic Transfer Belt) unit that needed replacing.

Go to the "Print/Interpret the Print Quality Troubleshooting Pages" section and run the tests. Click the "Click Here" link in "Step two: Interpret the Print Quality Troubleshooting pages" to see if it's the ETB.

Be warned though, the ETB unit is over US$500 (If you think that's bad it's $786 here in Australia even with dollar parity) however HP support will replace it free of charge if the printer is still under warranty, just give them a call (number on HP site).

Color printing, not so colorful. Even with new cartridges


Your model has some print quality pages built in to help diagnose and solve print problems.

1) Press <Menu>
2) Press <Down> button to highlight "Diagnostics"
3) Press the <checkmark>
4) Press <Down> button to highlight "PQ Troubleshooting"
5) Press <checkmark> to print the pages

If you see print-quality defects on the print-quality-troubleshooting pages, calibrate the printer. To calibrate the printer (optimize print quality):

1) Press <Menu>
2) Press <Down> button to highlight "Configure Device"
3) Press <checkmark>
4) Press <Down> button to highlight "Print Quality"
5) Press <checkmark>
6) Press <Down> to highlight "Full Calibrate Now"
7) Press <Checkmark>

Dell 926.... the printer will not acknowledge that a new cartridge has been put in. It will not work. previously had the error code 1203, a short circuit in print head. That has now disappeared. Help...


Error 1203 is an issue that occurs either when a cartridge is bad or the printer cartridge Slot is bad...

You can easily fix this yourself, one of the quickest ways to fix it is to print 10 doublesided blank pages and it will clean the inside of the machine for you and the line will vanish.

For further print quality problems on this machine follow these instructions to troubleshoot.

When troubleshooting image quality problems, it is important to understand the situations in which the problem occurs.

Print a copy of the color test pages to determine whether the problem is in one color or more than one color.
  1. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button on the Control Panel to select [Troubleshooting] on the Display Screen, and then press the [OK] button.
  2. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Print Quality Problems], and then press the [OK] button.
  3. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Color Test Pages], and then press the [OK] button to print the test pages. If the problem occurs with one color on the test pages, perform the solutions for this problem. If the problem occurs in more than one color on the test pages, restart your search and select a case for the image quality problem occurring through all colors.

Problem of incompatible cartridge occure in my new J 4580


i had the same problem with the hp 4580. i needed to replace the black ink which i did. then the error message appeared "incompatible print cartridge tri color"...chatted with hp customer support, wasted a hour. claimed its a hardware problem need to have it fixed. i asked would i be charge he said yes but the printer was under warranty. he asked other questions...bottom line i left the chat box....bought another hp 4580, used same cartridges, same message...THEN finally i replaced the color cartridge...and BAM! it worked on both printers. solution...replace the color cartridge...cons..if this happens again its a waste of money to keep buying the colored ink...

Step one: Retry the print job The problem may occur only rarely. If you have not seen it in other printouts, try again. Step two: Increase the print quality mode If reprinting did not help, try increasing the print quality mode.
  1. In the application you are printing from, click File , and then click Print .
  2. Make sure the printer is selected, and then click Properties .
  3. Select the Paper/Quality tab.
  4. In the Print Quality area, choose the next higher quality setting. If the current setting is Draft, choose Normal. If the current setting is Normal, choose Best.
Step three: Print in grayscale (black area streaking only) If the streaks are in a black area of a black and white printout, change to grayscale printing. NOTE: This step does not apply to color printouts.
  1. In the application you are printing from, click File , and then click Print .
  2. Make sure the printer is selected and click Properties .
  3. Click the Color tab, and select Print Grayscale and High Quality .
Step four: Clean the printheads If the print quality is still bad, clean the printheads.
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Open HP Solution Center .
  3. Click Settings , Print Settings , and then select Printer Toolbox .
  4. Click the Service Tab .
  5. Click Clean Printhead , and then click Clean .
Step five: Align the printheads If the print quality is still bad, align the printheads.
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Open the printer Toolbox , and select the Printer Services tab.
  3. Click Align Printheads . The Align Printheads window opens. Click Align .
  4. The printer prints an alignment page. The lines in the patterns should appear to be straight. Click OK when the page finishes printing.
Step six: Calibrate the linefeed If the print quality is still bad, calibrate the linefeed:
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Open the printer Toolbox and select the Printer Services tab.
  3. Click Calibrate Advanced Linefeed . The Advanced Linefeed Calibration window opens. Click OK .
Step seven: Replace one or both printheads If the print quality is still bad after performing all the above steps, one or both of the printheads will have to be replaced. Print a PQ Diagnostic page to see which printhead should be replaced.
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Press the Setup button.
  3. Press 1 and * simultaneously.
  4. Look at the color blocks labeled Test Pattern 2. Some or all of them could show white horizontal streaks. If none of the blocks are streaked, the printheads are okay.
    • If the Black block has lines – replace the KY printhead.
    • If the Cyan block has lines – replace the MC printhead.
    • If the Magenta block has lines – replace the MC printhead.
    • If the Red block has lines – replace the KY printhead.
    • If the Green block has lines – replace the KY printhead.
