The color wheel needs to be replaced. No way you can do this yourself. Would cost $300 - $400 to have a tech do it.

My Mitsubishi 73 in SDLP works fine for about an hr then turns green and starts jumping. I can turn it off and back on and it's good for about 15 mins. If its off for a while it starts within a hr

Hello. When the picture changes color after warming up, chances are that the color wheel is defective. If you get close enough, you might be able to hear a whining sound. If you do hear a whining sound, you definitely have a bad color wheel. Some color wheels are still available from Mitsubishi. Good luck!

My Samsung hdtv rear projection tv model#HCM4216W doesn't have any sound good picture though but does have some light waves in picture

the lack of sound is likely due to a defective audio output amplifier integrated circuit or IC for short, it needs replacing, the wavy lines through you picture is due to a defective filter capacitor in your power supply circuit, or may be due to the audio amplifier I.C drawing more current from your power supply causing a non clean power to be supplied to the video circuits, have the audio amp replaced first and note if the wavy lines are still present if so it is likely that some filter capacitors need replacing, to obtain sound you might be able to connect a external amplifier like your home stereo using the aux input and the sound output from your TV`s RCA jacks, this works well, let me know if you need further assistance good luck

Red, Green convergence lines are wavy

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Low pitched grinding or groaning noise

Dan i recently had one of these in the shop and discovered a problems with blown capicitors in power supply.. however the low pitch groan indicates a fan or what is known as a color wheel. if this motorized part does not reach speed the lamp will not fire. replaceing the color wheel is not an easy task.

53h71 toshiba projection TV with noise in picture

The problem you have is on the hyper module located behind the rear input panel. Inside the shield there are about 6 or 7 10mf/16v surface mounted capacitors. Replace them and your problem will be history. As for the shop that did the repair they owe you a call back to do it right. However, request that you get a different tech to come out. Do not attempt the repair yourself, it involves excellent soldering skills and parts removal. Good luck
