My Chocolate LG cell phone was working fine until earlier today, when I received an incoming call. I answered but could not hear anything, nor could i hear myself. I can make calls and receive calls, but the phone is silent. I have checked the mute options, but that doesnt appear to be the problem. any suggestions?
Sometimes there might just be lint or something in the headset port. Try taking some canned air and blow it out or take a headset and plug it in and out a few times.
The same thing was happening with my phone, turn your phone off, then take out the battery then put the battery back in and turn your phone on it should have sound and should be working correctly.
I'm having the same problem on my phone. LG 9900. Tech support told me to buy a new phone. But my friend had the same problem just a day before mine did. Tech support told her to dial *228 and then push 1. You can't hear anything but the phone is updating. It will restart after its done. Worked for her but not me. Maybe it will help.
I also had this problem but had no compressed air so I used a toothpick and it works now.

This is my second LG Chocolate phone. The first one I had did the same thing you described and I exchanged it for another. Now the one I've had for 6 months is doing the exact same thing...I need help because I have no money to get a brand new cell phone!
My LG chocolate was fine yesterday, but when i tried to call someone this morning i couldn't hear anything when I called or recieved a cal from someone. The sound on my phone is fine, i can hear my ringtone when someone calls me but once I pick it up I cannot hear anything. I'm not using a headset with my phone & I didn't do anything to make it act like this. I have been known to have bad luck with all my electronics[cameras,laptops,previous cellphones, etc.] but I was suprised this happened because i didn't even do anything to it. I'd love to figure out how to fix this asap.

okay so last night my phone was working great it really was i was recording things.. i was able to call and call. well the ring tone was working when i work up (thats what woke me up) and well... i was thinking everything was dandy.... then i actually try'd to call a friend to wake her up.. and nothing! its weird! the input isn;t working the out put only the speaker.. RIGHT NOW it is ringing for a text and i can hear it! but now when i call... and since it is a chocolate... i slid it down to end the call and it was still!!! going!!! like the seconds were going and going so i had to open it up and click "'pwr'END" gahh i don't know what to do!!! i blew in the Charger in the memory spot tooke'n out the battery blew all in there the headset thingy i just don't know... can someone help me!! and it wont even play recordings like not even on speaker!!! and when i call people the speaker wont even play there voice but it will play the ring tone?! what the heck! i need help =(

I'm having the same problem, a friend called me and I couldn't hear her after I said hello. Like there was dead air and she couldn't hear me either. She must have hung up so I called her back and the same thing happened a number of times in a row. This happened once before and I brought it into Verizon and they took the battery out and put it back in and it seemed to work. What I'm thinking after reading all the other posts....is it something WRONG w/ the LG Chocolate that so many people are having problems???? Any other solutions would be really appreciated!!!!
It was working fine and I received a call yesterday and I could not hear or be heard on my phone. Sounds like what everyone else is talking about.

I cannot hear the phone ringing when making calls. Can send and receive text messages. I can send call but can't hear the other person. Can't find the mute button to see if put on by mistake. How to take it off. Have Motorola walmart prepaid phone.
