Toshiba Satellite Touchpad not working

I cannot get the touchpad to work on my Toshiba Satellite A135-S2276 laptop. I reinstalled the drivers, power cycled, - nothing. Computer says "the device is working properly" but that is not so. Also tried Fn -F9 - no good. Shortcut keys are working, just not for touchpad.

Restore the defaults in the BIOS to begin with, this will make sure its not a setting in there that is disabling the mousepad.

Then in windows see if the touchpad is working. If not then take the keyboard out with the power turned off.

When you take the keyboard out you will see the ribbon cable that comes from underneath the touchpad. disconnect it from the motherboard and reseat it firmly back in. Then turn back on the motherboard and see if the mousepad works. If it still doesn't then try the shortcut key to enable it.

If it does't enable then that means its either going to be a mousepad problem where you would have to replace the top cover assembly or a motherboard problem cause it could be where the voltage required to run that mousepad is missing.

The Satellite has an on/off switch for the touchpad. It's right above the touchpad below the keys.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4487 laptop, After install Windows XP system operating, only Touchpad is not working. How to repair this problem? Thank you for your support.

We you have installed the operating system (windows xp) but seems like you have not yet installed the drivers

There would be a second disc that you might have got from the manufacturer (application & drivers or Driver and utility CD) please insert the same and try to install the touchpad drivers

Else you can always download the same from the manufacturer website

My touch-pad mouse is not working in A135-S4527 Can you help? Thanks.

Try to power drain the laptop first.Turn off the machine, unplug ac adapter and remove battery.press and hold power button for 10 secs then put the battery back and plug ac adapter if needed. turn on the computer and check if touchpad is working if not then check touchpad settings in taskbar, check if touchpad is disabled if not or if there is no icon there go to device manager(right click on mycomputer->properties->device manager)and look for driver for touchpad under mice and other pointing devices. If driver is not there then you have to reinstall the driver. If you have the disc from the manufacturer of the system then run the disc and install driver or if not go the manufacturers website and then download he driver from there.Make sure you restart the machine after installing the driver for it to work properly, also check if the laptop has a button to enable/disable touchpad...some laptops has that kind of feature...Cheers!!!

How do i turn mouse pad on and off ??

with the touchpads on my laptops, if you have the drivers installed, you should be able to go to the control panel, mouse settings and in there there should be something for turning the touchpad on and off. if the options arent there, maybe you need to get the drivers for it.

Touch pad refuses to work

Try going to Toshiba's support page and re-install the driver for the touchpad. If this does not work. You may need to replace the touchpad itself.

Toshiba satellite A135-S4727 PC

Hi,

First F8 and choose "last known good configuration".

Second, there is a small button atop the mousepad which turns the mouse on and off; might check that.

Good luck

your synaptics driver may be corrupt, go to my computer>right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager, the nlook down the list for mice and othe pointing devices. Click on the '+' sign and on the synaptics line, right click and select uninstal. Restart the pc and then the driver should reinstall automatically, then give it another try.
