No sound on transferred files

When I play my movies on my camcorder itself, I get full sound and picture, but when I attach the camcorder to my PC via the provided cord; and try to play the movie either directly from the camcorder's memory or copy them to a folder on the hard drive, all I am getting is the picture, no sound. Do I need to use a special program for it to work? Windows Media has no problem playing the picutre, but it comes back with no sound

And yes, I have already checked the sound via multiple source files and all are working except files from this camcorder, so my card is good, speakers on, volume on and un-muted, etc

I have exactly the same issue with no solution as of yet. Please let me know if anyone obtains one.

i have same problem. No sound when files are copied. I am using windows media player.

  • Anonymous Jan 22, 2008

I used Explore and copied the movies to an external hard drive.

Still no sound with several movie player formats.

Google found a bunch of forums with people having the same problem and it seems the JVC sound file is a new Apple format that is not compatible.

I am on another computer now and Google is giving me totally different results--none helpful.

"If you're not getting sound when playing back in a media player, you might not have an AC3 decoder installed since the audio on some models (such as my panasonic) are recorded in AC3. You could always google ac3filter and install that, and that'll usually provide the codec for the sound playback and decoding." - Karl Mari

Thnx a lot! AC3 filter helped me!

I read that the sound file is a new Apple format and not compatible. I am on a different computer now and Google is not finding much of substance this time.

Try to upgrade your audio driver and software, or you try to plug it into another pc. I assumed you installed the installer cd provided in your camera.

I wanted to be specific about this line in the official post regarding attachment of sound to an acrobat file in version 9

QuickTime 6.0 or later is required to work with movies in InDesign. You can add QuickTime, AVI, MPEG, and SWF movies. However, QuickTime no longer offers full support of SWF files. You can also add WAV, AIF, and AU sound clips. InDesign supports only 8? or 16?bit WAV files that are not compressed.

These are the only official file formats of sound files which as per adobe can be attached with version 9 acrobat. You can go through rest of the article by clicking on the link below.

Everio movie editing

First check sound settings on control panel, ensure volume is not at minimum and computer audio is not muted. Test playing a CD.

this is usually due to Media Player or whatever player you use on your pc, not having the right codecs to decompress sound from camera file.

Usually you sort it out upgrading media player, you can download update from links below.

Sharing Media Videos via DLNA-Connect the Converted HD Videos MP4 to Droid X via...

DLNA for HD Videos Streaming:Camcorder Videos to Droid X with Compatible Format
Droid X DLNA-Stream Camcorder HD Videos from Windows 7 PC to Droid X,WD TV Live Hub via DLNA

I have recently setup DLNA between my Windows 7 PC and Droid X, and my other home devices like WD TV Live Hub. With HDMI cable connected between WD TV Live Hub to my HDTV, I can stream most of my videos from Windows 7 PC and watch on HDTV. But Droid X does not read the .mts files that I transferred to PC from my Sony Handycam CX700.

Actually, there are DLNA-certified cameras, which might be easily connected to Droid X via WiFi. But my camcorder is the non-DLNA compliant Sony CX700, thus I need to store the .mts files on Windows 7 PC. The mts videos play well via DLNA streaming from PC to WD TV Live Hub with HDTV. I was recommended to convert the camcorder videos in .mts to .mp4 for streaming to Droid X with Aunsoft Final Mate.

Aunsoft Final Mate works great for the CX700 videos. I just need to import videos to Final Mate, create a movie for conversion from the File menu (File > Create A Movie For Conversion), bring the clips to Movies tab. Click the Export button under the volume settings, and choose Droid X output profile to start conversion. You can also Free Download Final Mate with the trial version, and give it a try.

For those who may have problem Setting up DLNA Video Streaming, here I would like to give you the fast guide with my Windows 7 PC, WD TV Live Hub and Droid X.

1. Windows 7 PC is DLNA-compliant, and I just need to activate two services: SSDP Discovery and Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service.

2. Make sure the devices are in the same network, and put the video files to the video folder on Windows 7 for sharing.

3. WD TV Live Hub and Motorola Droid X are also DLNA-compliant. There is built-in DLNA application on Droid X, and is available in the Application tray. Just run DLNA to control or play videos on Droid X.

Below is the DLNA application on Droid X:

Turn on WiFi, and you will face the following screen for playing media, copying media to server, copying media to phone, or share media.

To stream and play the MP4 files converted from AVCHD files by Final Mate, just choose Play media, and Droid X will ask you to choose source, choose player, and start streaming.

With Final Mate, you can easily stream Camcorder Videos to Droid X with DLNA Compatible Format. Watch/Enjoy Joined Panasonic HS900 MTS Video on Asus O!Play in Full HD 1080p...

Enjoy Full HD Video on O!Play-Combine HS900 MTS into one file without conversion for playing on Asus O!Play

These days many of us have a constantly growing media library, with our favorite music, movies, and photos in a variety of formats and locations. The ASUS O!Play is designed to easily bring your media into your living room, without sacrificing quality. Enjoy video in full HD 1080p resolution,full-fidelity audio, and photo slideshows on your HDTV or home theater setup. With impressively wide format support, a wealth of connection options, and playback over a network or directly from USB and eSATA drives, the O!Play is an elegant and modern media solution. Such a cool HD media player supports formats include full hd 1080p mts.

If you are interested in recording with HD camcorder, like Panasonic HDC-HS900 which give MTS extension, you can directly Transfer and Enjoy Panasonic MTS files to Asus O!Play via HDMI. However, before enjoy them with O!Play, you may want to do simply editing like cutting off unwanted or unimportant parts and then merge or join the trimmed MTS files into 1 file while keeping the same format, without losing any quality. Sometimes you can also put them in a format for devices to watch anywhere in the house or on the go.

Now I will show you a fast way to Cut off Panasonic HS900 MTS clips, and then Combine HS900 MTS into one file without conversion for playing on Asus O!Play with Full HD 1080p resolution.

Step 1. Capture MTS from Panasonic HDC-HS900 AVCHD camcorder to Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac.
Free Download and Run Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac as the fast MTS Cutter/Joiner without Conversion, and use USB cable to connect your Camcorder to PC. Then follow the camcorder wizard to import videos. After selecting the Import option, you will face the window like below to choose the video clips for importing to Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac. The videos would be listed on the "Camcorder" tab.

Step 2: Create a Movie for Cutting and Joining Panasonic HDC-HS900 MTS clips.
Click the Add movie button, and choose the" For Lossless Output", a movie about cut mts for lossless output will be created by default. Then select one or multiple mts video files you would like to split/join from the Camcorder tab and then drag and drop them to Movie tab. In this way, a Movie for no re-encoding will be created.

Step 3. Split or cut off unwanted parts from HS900 MTS movie for Asus O!Play.
From the timeline, you may notice the vernier, which is used as time pointer. Click on the Vernier, and move to the timeline you want to cut, and click the Split button to cut the video. Then select the unwanted or unimportant parts and click Delete.

To change video sequences, just click on the video clip on timeline, drag and drop to the left or right for the position as you like. One movie will be exported as one file with Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac.

Step 4. Merge/Join/Combine HS900 MTS without Conversion for Asus O!Play.
Click the Export button and choose lossless output, the HS900 MTS cutter/merger for Asus O!Play will start joining large .mts files into one mts file without conversion at the fast speed. The non-conversion process will prevent loss of quality when joining MTS files for Asus O!Play with 1080p.
no-lossless-output.png
After a few seconds, then connect the lossless output mts format with Asus O!Play via USB. By Connecting the O!Play HD Media Player via HDMI with HDTV , you can Enjoy full 1080p high-definition video and digital audio output for lossless audio transfer to your receiver or TV.

Tips:
If you think that MTS file is so large that can't play smoothly on O!Play, you can also use this program to convert MTS file to MP4, AVI, MOV, WMV, etc with smaller size for Asus O!Play.

To transfer tape data to computer

the way you can transfer your videos on your computer is by using USB cable and install the driver to your computer. You can upload your videos by saving it on ULEAD products. As far as i know you cant transfer videos from disc to your memory card unless it was been converted but you cant view or watch it on your camcorder itself only computer can play this because your camcorder is not able to play such converted files.
i will give you a step by step on your camcorder.

  • connect your camcorder using your USB cable to your computer and be sure it is ON
  • Install the cd driver camed with your camcorder. if you didnt prompt on looking for a driver then go to the add hardware on the control panel and follow the procedure there.
  • after the installation you should see the icon on the my computer labeled scanners and cameras and indicating the model of your camcorder.
  • Install Ulead Power Producer or any editing movie that you have like Windows movie maker, nero movier maker etc.. i prefer to use Ulead because its so easy to use
  • after uploading and editing your videos using ULEAD save it on any various types of videos that you like. you should see it after you want to save it.
  • burn your videos on NERO software
Hope you understand my procedures. Let me know if you have problems Good Luck!

a software called Showbiz DVD2 was able to detect my camera and allow me to control the Camera options via the firewire cable to transfer the full video to my hard drive. You can also use a video program like Pinnacle or Roxio Media. Hope this helps you out.

Video playback is not smooth while playing via USB 1.1

USB1.1 port can generally handle transfer speeds approaching 5.5Mbps between PC and DVD Camcorder. Smooth playback of movies requires 5.5Mbps speeds or above. If the PC you are using has some compatibility issues with the USB driver software, the USB port may drop to speeds below 5.5Mbps causing short pauses during video playback. It is recommended to copy the movie file from the DVD Camcorder to the hard disc drive (HDD) on your PC, then playback the movie from the hard drive.
