Sounds like the wire is touching somewhere against the body
Check the harness under vehicle by the gastank, unplug it and test for fuse blowing. Test input to tank for dead short.
Some vehicles have a removeable plate under back seat for accessing this area. Most you would have to lower the gas tank being careful not to break fuel lines and an impact will be necessary to remove bolts and if these break a threaded rod with washers may be necessary by poking a hole through the floor to attach strap back onto it. Support gas-tank with a jack with board on it. Hopefully not too much gas as it's heavy stuff if you have to drop the tank to replace fuel pump.
Some places try to sell you a 3 or 400.00 unit when all can be taken apart and replaced with a good pump and not the sending unit included. just make sure is for the right size engine.
I suspect that a wire is shorting out somewhere, typically where it exits the vehicle to the fuel tank or under the Power Distribution Unit which is where the fuses and relays are under the hood, typically near the battery.
Some vehcicles the ECM or Computer moves around and the harness gets frayed or shorted near it against the body of thecar but us-ually within 2 feet of the ECM itself.
