DO NOT OPEN/CLOSE THE SCREEN ANYMORE(or move it at all)
Your laptop is damaged from the hinges which is a pretty common issue
The only solutions would be to:
1) plug in a monitor
2) buy a new laptop

SOURCE: Toshiba Satellite P105-S6084 Laptop Boot Problems.

Hello,
This happens sometimes due to faulty memory or faulty software that causes errors in filesystem. You need to obtain a Windows XP with the correct edition that is installed and boot into it. Then go into Recovery Console and wait for the c: prompt asking which windows you want to log into. Select 1 for C: windows. Then it will ask you for the administrator password. Enter it or press enter if there is no password. Type chkdsk c: /r at the c:\windows prompt and leave to run. It will take about 15 -30 mins. When finished, type exit and press enter. Press ctrl+alt+del to restart computer.
If problem is fixed, computer should start up fine now.

If you still have the problem, let me know so we can try something else.

Thanks,
Lolita

SOURCE: Sound Card for Toshiba Satellite A135-S4656

Try the download from the link bellow. If this driver doesn't work, then you will need to get the exact Realtek sound card model you have and check Realtek and driverguide.com for the XP drivers.

SOURCE: Laptop monitor goes black

If you're working on the computer when that happens, it's not probably a power setting. Try to update your BIOS to the most current version at the toshiba support website (support.toshiba.com) & see what happens. Fixes the issue most of the time

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: After a while the screen goes grey and the computer wont respond.

it should be problem of graphics card or the graphics chip. if that is from nvidia, setting up ntune may cause such problem or if you did any overclocking. may also have a problem of getting hot. try reinstalling operating system if you feel comfortable of reinstalling OS. it would solve any driver related issue.

Then check the cooling system of your laptop.

finally think about a change if none works.

Grey screen

Take it in for support at your nearest Toshiba Repair center. If it was a desktop you might've been able to service it, but since it's a laptop, you're better off not messing with it.

Toshiba Satellite A505 - Most of the time when I turn it on the screen is grey, with no text.

This sounds like a bad display on the laptop. Hook up an external monitor to the vga port on the laptop. You may need to toggle the display to output to the external monitor. This is generally accomplished by pressing the "FN" key + one of the F# keys. Look for an icon that resembles a monitor or it may say LCD. If the graphics display correctly on the external monitor, then you will need to replace the computer screen.

Laptop goes on some few minutes after being shut down.

you cannot blame windows xp because according to me it is such OS that it removes many problems of windows 7 and vista.windows 7 and vista makes your pc much slow and many features dont work but windows xp is free from these errors.actually you hear the sound but nothing appears on the screen.this is because your cpu fan is running which takes somes time to stop.may be some problem of the hardware especially the mainboard.go to any repair shop and just get it checked.

My toshiba satellite pro is having a slight problem with the screen. the screen sometimes changes and its very rough and unnormal

If I'm understanding your issue, it sounds like your resolution is not set to your preferred resolution. If you're using Windows Vista/7, you can right-click on your desktop and click on Screen Resolution to change it to however you would like to see it. If you are using Windows XP, right-click on the desktop and click on Properties. In the Properties window, click on the Settings tab to change the resolution.
I hope this helps and thanks for using Fixya!

Everytime i switch my toshiba l300 laptop on just goes to windows is loading files then i get bluey grey screen with system recovery box saying installed program cannot start turn off im running windows...

Download "Hiren's Boot cd".Burn the ISO images in a disc.Set your BIOS to boot using that disc.Select Mini windows XP.There you can have all the repairs tools pre-loaded.If none of the tools able to fix then you can always backup your important files and doa new re-installed.

Here is the link of lastest Hiren's Boot cd
http://d2.hirensbootcd.net/Hirens.BootCD.10.1.zip

You try to remove all the program during startup using that disk with "msconfig" command.

Let me know if it work out for you.

Laptop screen turns black

In Windows XP you can disable hibernation by doing the following:
1. Open Power Options in Control Panel
2. Select the Hibernate tab
3. Clear the checkbox for enabling hibernation
This doesn't work in Vista however because the GUI for Power Options has changed and doesn't offer the ability to disable hibernation. But you can disable hiberation in Vista from the command line if you use admin privileges. Here's how:
1. Press the WINDOWS key and type cmd into the Start Search box but *don't* press ENTER
2. Right-click on cmd in the Programs list and select Run As Administrator
3. Click Continue when the UAC prompt appears
4. Type powercfg -h off and press ENTER

IF this does not help write back.

My Toshiba Satellite A215-S7413 laptop randomly goes to a blue screen with lots of white writing on it. I never have time to read it because it goes away so quickly. After the screen goes away it restarts...

Try going to Start - Run.
Type sfc /scannow in the run line and hit enter or click ok.
A dialog will pop up that says "Windows File Protection"
Allow this to run and insert the Win XP CD if requested.
Hopefully this will resolve your issue!
