On Battery or Plugged in? You didn't post the OS you are using, Open the Power Options, set to High Performance, open Change Plan settings, Adjust to your preference, Change Advanced settings to your preference.
Hi Inorder to brighten up the screen ,try to find the key present on keyboard like "Fn" and also one more which resembles like sun. This Sun like key will be present in the Function key(F1, F2 Etc) Press both of the button at same time and adjust the brightness as per you requirement.
And also you can change the same in the power options in the properties where we can change the screensaver
Then brighten it. You brighten it by Holding Down either FN, CTRL or DEL key + Hit the corresponding key for brightening the display. For example on my computer I press and hold the FN Function key while I hit the UP Arrow key to brighten the screen.
The brighten/darken keys normally have the icon of a circle with sprockets around it like the sun or it looks like a washer that goes between a screw.
Hi, click on your battery logo at the bottom right hand side of your screen. Once clicked, select adjust screen brightness or more power options. In the box of more power options, you can adjust the screen brightness with a sliding bar at the bottom of the box.
have you tried holding Fn and pressing the button with thr brightening symbol. on mine its Fn and F5 for brighten and Fn and F4 for dim.. buttons may vary but this should work if not you may have a fault with the sreen sensor that shuts the screen down when you close the notebook

Hi!
This is a feature and not a defect of the K100D. You can turn this off by going to the menu and going into the second tab (playback menu). Once there, go to preview display, where you will have 3 options - off, histogram and brighten areas. Set this to off (your camera is set to brighten areas, that is why the white parts of your photos appear to be blinking).
Hope this helps!
