Do not run on less than a 30 amp service and breaker
An air conditioner typically uses 1 amp for every 500 BTU. Hence, 5,000 to 15,000 BTU air conditioners normally require 10 to 30 amps. However, several elements, such as voltage and efficiency rating, may have an impact on amperage draw.
You can find more info here: https://www.galvinpower.org/how-many-amps-does-a-5000-15000-btu-air-conditioner-use/
It draws locked rotor amps at power application. capacitors boost it quicker then you read it if all ok then runs at full load amps.
SOURCE: heat strip installation
It was quite simple, just installing the heat strip and my model only required removing the grill cover and mounting the element. The other optional installations didn't apply to my model.
thanks,
Don
SOURCE: How to put refrigerant in Demotic RV Rooftop Air Conditioner
You will need to add a self tapping port to the suction side of the unit. You will have to determine what the size of the pipe is and then go to a local a/c supply company and buy one. It's kind of like a self tapping supply for water but for high pressure. Hope this helps. I would also put one in on the high side as well so you don't blow the valve in the compressor if you over charge it or the system is dirty.
SOURCE: Duo Therm RV air conditioner inadequate cooling
The rule of thumb is 20F difference (lower) than ambient temperature. Most manufacturers will tell you 20 F degress is about normal. In your case it does sound a little warm, but I need to ask, sorry. Was it working o.k. before in same basic temperatures? Have you cleaned coils & fins good on Evaporator & condenser recently? Have you removed filter inside & cleaned it as well, and looked to see if coils are frosting up by chance? Is this a ducted or non ducted system? I'm guessing on a 5th wheel, it is ducted, so make sure you have good discharge on all of those as well. Any blockage or restriction on the discharge side will also cause the problem. Keep me posted on what you find.
SOURCE: odor when air conditioner turned on
Hi, If its a smell other then electrical burning, I would say it is coming from the evaporator coil inside. Take out the filter and clean it if it is the washable type and try and clean the coil. They make coil cleaner you may be able to get at your RV dealer to do this. This is the only thing I can think of that would have any odor. Unless there is something outside it is drawing in. The system is sealed and would not emit any odors other then a hot motor. You can check up top by removing cover to check the motors and to see if any critters have crawled inside. Let me no, keep me posed on what you find and if you need more help.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7
PS Check the indoor blower motor also, it may be getting hot and ready to fail.
