I set the headset to be the default audio device for the computer. I can use Skype fine and can hear iHeart Radio. However, I can't hear my Camtasia recording and don't even know if the microphone is working with it. I also can't hear the Camtasia tutorials or videos on YouTube.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm using the trial version and want to make sure I can use the program before I buy it. by Video Recording Mobiles Video Recording Mobiles Tablets

SOURCE: My mic

Logitech headsets do not come with drivers. If this is a wireless headset, it could be that you are receiving interference from other wireless appliances. If you have a wireless phone, this could be the source of your interference. Researching the headset, it does run at a 2.4 Ghz, so make sure your wireless phone isn't on the same frequency, if you have one at all. Also, this is a bluetooth accessory, class 2, meaning you can't be more that 30 feet away from the usb adapter that's plugged into your computer. Also make sure that you don't have a ton of items plugged into your USB ports on you PC, as this can drain some of the power from the USB port and not supply the correct amount to your adapter. You could also try plugging in the usb adapter to a different USB port on your PC, just to make sure the port itself is not faulty. I hope some of this helps.

When I try to sign into oovoo it always says fail to sign in. How do I fix it?

Hello!
Sign in failure can be caused not only by the camera or Skype, but also by slow connection.

You first need to make sure that your camera is functional. Please, follow these steps and open these two windows:
  • QuickCam software: Start>Programs>Logitech>Logitech QuickCam and
  • Logitech Webcam Software: Start>Programs>Logitech>Logitech Webcam Software
  • Make sure you can see yourself in the Webcam software window
  • Close the webcam software window
Make sure your webcam is selected in Skype settings so that Skype can use it:
  • Sign in to your Skype, click Tools>Options>General>Video Settings
  • Check (click to have "tick" in the box) both "Enable Skype Video" and "Start my video automatically when I am in a call
  • Under Select Webcam (Default video device) choose Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX
  • Save
  • In Audio Settings choose Logitech Mic to be your default microphone (you have it built in your camera)
  • Check to mark the box "Let Skype adjust my audio settings"
  • Save
  • It should work now.
If you experience issues like signing in to your Skype is taking too long, Can't sign in, or you can't see or hear the other person, then you should contact your internet provider for slow connection. Also, you can check your connection using Speed Test online (www.speedtest.net).

Regards!

Skype is very picky about having the latest drivers and you also need to see if your support software ( not downloaded with the Logitech software ) is up to date and functioning OK

Visit the Logitech website and browse the photo gallery for your model and click on the photo to navigate to the support page.
Note - Older models on page 2 - look for the link at the bottom right of page 1 and click on it "Still can't find your product?"

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/405/&cl=us,en?prodcrid=405

In addition to the Logitech installer you will need to check the support software - Microsoft DirectX . This comes pre-loaded on most Windows computers but has to be updated - I am currently on version 11
To start the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, click 'Start', click 'Run', type dxdiag in the Open box, and then click OK
Run through the tabs checking the 'notes' windows for information
The version will be shown on the 'Systems' tab

Procedure to re-install Logitech software
Close all programs while uninstalling - downloading and uploading software
Disconnect your webcam
Uninstall the current webcam software on your computer
Restart computer
Download the Installation package from Logitech
Run the installer and choose your options during the installation - You may not want Logitech Chat but the Desktop icon for the webcam toolbar is a must.
Connect your webcam when prompted.

Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.

http://www.testmycam.com/
Not working ? - troubleshoot your drivers and software - get your cam working before moving on

Working OK ?

Set your webcam mic as default ( if it has a built in mic

Plug in the webcam

TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray or from Control Panel
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
Right click on the volume graph and select 'Show disabled devices' and 'Show disconnected devices'
To set required (webcam) mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click 'OK'
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

Restart computer

CONFIGURE TO SKYPE
Connect webcam
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start (To reboot the webcam software) - if you have been using it elsewhere the SKYPE software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.

Start Skype.
On the 'Tools' menu, click 'Options'.
In the navigation pane of the Skype 'Options' window, click 'Audio Settings'
Run down the list setting your defaults
Select your webcam as the default microphone.
Make a free test call
Click 'Save'
In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Video Settings.
This will launch your webcam
Adjust quality of picture in 'Settings'
Check the correct webcam is shown as default
Click Save
Test your webcam by making a Skype test call.

Please help me

You need to check if the mic/s is working?
Are you certain the Logitech webcam has a built-in mic?
To check if the mic works go to Start - All programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound Recorder and test record your voice and play back to check, also try it with the laptop's built-in mic (if it has one) and the Logitech mic.
If both mics work then you have a choice of which one you can use in Skype, most likely the best one would be the Logitech one.

You need to configure your audio settings in Skype.
When you open Skype click on Tools - Options - Audio Settings and click on Select Microphone and select the microphone you are using and save the setting.

If you still have problems get back to me with all details and error messages.

Sound problem - Acer Aspire 5920

I assume you are using Windows Vista as ships with Aspire 5920's. Try the following to make sure that Windows is using the correct output options:
  1. Click on the Start Menu and go to Control Panel
  2. From Control Panel click on Hardware and Sound
  3. Click on the heading Sound and the sound configuration box will appear.
  4. The first tab is called Playback and allows you to select a playback device.  You should find your external speakers and internal speakers listed.
  5. Click the external speakers and then click on the "set default" button to make sure that the sound is played back through those instead of your internals.

  • If using a headset, verify that both the headphone and microphone are connected and working properly.

Step 2: Executing the audio and video setup procedure within the messenger application
This procedure will allow you to assign an audio input and audio output device, as well as assigning the video device of your choice to work with the messenger application. The following example uses Windows Live Messenger 8.5 however, the same procedure can be used for earlier versions of MSN Messenger 6.x and above. MSN Messenger users please skip directly to step 4 below.
Note to Windows Live Messenger users: There are multiple ways to execute the following steps depending on being signed in vs signed out of the messenger application, and which version of Windows Live Messenger is being used. To avoid confusion, please execute the following steps while signed out. We also recommend updating to the latest version of Windows Live Messenger.
1. Sign out of your account.

If you have an external USB microphone or headset device connected to your computer that hosts a microphone, select the devices name or model number in the drop down menu. If your external microphone or headset is connected to your soundcard, the device listed will be the make or model of your soundcard device. Once your device is selected, adjust the microphone volume level to your preference and click next.
Note: The microphone volume level may need to be tested in order to find a comfortable volume level. As a starting point, try setting the level midway and adjust when necessary by re-executing this procedure.

8. In the “Webcam Setup” window, select the video device you would like to use with messenger application. Once selected, you should see a display sample in the window provided. You can also click the “Options” button to make camera specific adjustments. Once completed, click the “Finish” button to apply your changes.
