Yamaha VWT 1100 waverunner owened 2 months. Ran ok at first then becames difficult to start would make clicking noise but would eventually start. After started would have it running on water and would all of a sudden die and wouldn't start back up. Now will not start at all just keeps making clicking noises as long as you hold the start button.

SOURCE: Starting difficulties

if your battery is good, its most likey the starter contacts, there not very expensive you'll need to remove the starter and do it on the bench.

SOURCE: yamaha tw. noise from engine

Check and reset (if needed) the valve clearances. With the engine cold, set the intake to .002 and the exhaust to .003. Is the cam chain tensioner set properly? Burn premium gas and install a new NGK spark plug one heat range colder than stock to lessen any possible pre-ignition. Are there any signs of wetness, oil or blackish discoloration on the base of the cylinder head? > A blown head gasket can make a ticking sound also.

Please rate this solution. Thanks Kenneth!

SOURCE: Wont start now, idled last year but died when throttled up.

sounds like you blew some junk up into the carbs or injectors whatever the casse maybe. if you can try to blow some air through system or get a good cleaner and run it through the system, if its not too bad that should take care of it. These dont like running out of gas, try not to do so in the future. 1 more thing, sometimes a blast or two of ether will help also. Good luck

SOURCE: 2006 yamaha waverunner wont idle

what is it idle at? how much? remove your seat check air filter if is black oily remove it and see if that fixes your problem you may want to change your spark plugs as well # one cylinder may be starting to foul the new yamahas are the worst for fouling plugs use a cr8eb instead of the cr9eb the 8s are hotter and work better try those and let me know thank you

Follow the wire back from the starter. It should bring you to the relay. Many starter relays have 3 wire going to them. Usually, 1 smaller wire, and 2 larger wires. One wire will be power from the battery. The smaller wire will have power when the key is turned to start. The third wire will carry the battery voltage to the starter during starting. good luck
