SOURCE: Dell 964 scanner

First do your scan on Dell 964 scanner &printer. Scan to clipborad. You hear it scan but nothing happens on your computer. Go to control panel - scanners and cameras - scan profiles - find the document you have scanned, select it and click edit - click preview - in the left corner you will see in blue "How to scan a picture" click that, it will lead you to Windows Photo Gallery - there click on file and import from scanner of camera - it will scan there and your scanned pics will be in your picture folder :) Took me a while to figure it out :)
You can avoid all this and go directly to Windows Photo Gallery :)

I saw the error "an error occurred during preview. if the scanner is being used. please wait for it to complete the task.and then click preview" when iam attempting to preview the scanned pictur how c

If you continue to get this kind of error after restarting the computer, you may need to update the scanner's device drivers or reinstall the included software. You should also make sure only one program or application is attempting to use the scanner by closing all but the one program you are trying use with the scanner. One last note - always either let the program you are scanning to operate the scanner or let the scanner invoke its default application by pressing the scan, fax or copy buttons on the scanner. Do not for instance try and scan an image into a running program that initiates the scanning process itself while also invoking a scan from the scanner's control panel. The two operations will conflict.

Dear friend i have hplaserjet3055 i have installed by network i can print but i cant scan. it showing this error an error occurred during preview.if the scanner is being used please wait for it to...

Hi!

The problem described has nothing to do with the network or network settings. It looks like a driver/software related issue, the operating system cannot get accurate data regarding the status of the scanner.
Please download and install the latest drivers and software available at HP, especially for the scanning feature, here is a link:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=1140780&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=1161389&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=228

Hope it works!

Good luck!

I installed the Vista Drivers for my HP 4070 scanner and it gives me an error that "An Error Occured while Setting Scanner Properties. If another program is scanning, please wait for it to complete...

Install the latest drivers from the website. To download:
1 Go to hp.com 2 Click on Support and Drives 3 Enter your product name or number, in this case just type in Officejet 8500 All-In-One 4 Hit go 5 Choose your operating system 6 Hit Next 7 Click on the link that says Driver - Product Installation Software 8 Save it to your desktop
But before Installing the Software, use the Disc that came with the printer so you can do an L3_Uninstall first.

To go for an L3_Uninstall:
1 Go to My Computer (XP), Computer (Vista and Win7) 2 Right Click on the Driver CD, The one that has the HP Logo 3 Open Util 4 Open CCC 5 Double Click on the icon that says Uninstall_L3
The Uninstall will prompt you to restart the computer once it's done. After doing so, Install the newly downloaded software.
Try scanning again, I hope this worked. :)

Can't scan PLEASE HELP!

SOLUTION: Download the latest version (v 7.7.2) of the HP software from the HP website at www.hp.com. Uninstall the previous software and then reinstall the downloaded software. WORKAROUND: Follow the steps below:
  1. Load the slides or negatives in the TMA and place it on the scanner glass.
  2. Open Image Zone and click on Scan Picture to scan everything.
  3. After the scan is completed, change the settings from glass to scan slide/negative from TMA. The unit will scan again and show the four slides or negatives in the preview.
  4. Click on the first picture in the scan preview and make the following changes:
    • change the dust and scratch removal/sharpness to none
    • change the resolution to 72 dpi
  5. Click on the second picture in the scan preview and make the same changes described above.
  6. Click on the third picture and then the fourth picture and make the same changes.
  7. Click Accept . The correctly scanned slide or negative images will be saved in the Gallery.
