Jvc channel lock

Can anyone tell me how to clear the V-chip channel lock on a JVC AV20220 TV? I do not have the orig. remote, have tried a couple of universals but have not been able to get one to operate the tv. Wondering if it's because the channel lock is on why the universal won't work? Using front panel button menu, it will autoprogram and can see the channels flashing on as it passes them, but at the end goes to channel 2 and won't go anywhere else.

Channels won't stay setup

Sounds to me like a stuck button on the set or the remote. Once you get the channel set up straightened out you should be able to work on the V chip issue. Do you have the manual?

Delay with channel surfing

Two things I would check before contacting JVC. In the on screen menu does it have a setting under tuner controls to disable AFC? It sounds like the tuner is seeking the proper channel frequency before it locks it in and displays a picture. If there is no such setting, then I would try a channel autoprogram in the cable mode. I'm assuming you have no cable or satellite TV box hooked up to the set. JVC is usually a pretty good brand name.
