New receiver....old CD, record and tape players

I want to set up all 3 of my older machines with the new Onkyo TX-SR304. Unfortunately, the manual and receiver seem to be oriented to new 'stuff'. According to the manual I can hook up EITHER the CD player OR the record player. Is there a way I can do both or must I turn in this receiver and get a different one. Thanks for whatever help you can give!

You get better sound using an analog input, like tape on the play back.

Most new recievers don't have a "phono" input. If your record player is an older kind without a built in preamp, you will need to purchase a Phono pre-amp (about $25) and then you can use any input you wish.

I am trying to connect a wii to an onkyo tx-sr304...i have a directv satellite box and a DVD player connected to the component Video 1 and DVD connections and using to connect component out to TV...trying...

The pecking order for output video to your monitor forbids a lower quality video (composite (Yellow) being up-ticked to anything higher (your component out) (Page23).

The wii would be visible on the Monitor Out composite output (Page 24) to the TV.

How to program remote control?

Your Onkyo TX-SR304 receivers remote (RC-645S) is not capable of controlling devices by other manufacturers. It controls only Onkyo devices.
Other Onkyo remotes do have universal remote functionality and you can download Onkyo remote codes here.

I hope that helps.

I have a onkyo tx sr304 and a onkyo 6 disc player dx-c390.When my cd gets to disc 4 and 5 it shuts the receiver down.Whats up with this?

The only possibility that comes to mind is that it may be causing a short somehow when the carousel gets to that position, maybe a broken solder joint. Another possibility is that there may be a foreign object stuck inside the player such as another disc that lost it's position.

I have "Onkyo TX-SR304E" and PS3. Will this rcvr support PS3 in all means? Is there any special setting hat I ned to follow to get the best from my rcvr as well as PS3? Pls advise. Your help much...

what u can utilize on your tx-sr304 is the optical input at the back of the receiver. connect an optical cable from your PS3 into the receiver then follow these steps:
*make sure that the digital input on the front panel of your receiver matches where you placed the optical at the back of the tx-sr304 (either OPT1 or OPT2)
*all you have to do is keep pressing the digital input at the front panel until it goes to OPT1 or OPT2 (preferrably stay on DVD mode)
AFTER completing this go to your PS3 settings:
go to settings / then go to sound settings / then audio output settings / then set it to DIGITAL OUT (optical)/ then play and enjoy.....ü

Need codes for universal remote

Not sure if this helps, but I just called Onkyo with a request for codes for the SR304. They said the only codes they have are for THEIR remote. Maybe they will work with yours. Here they are:
0276 0476 0810 1187 1376.
I tried these in the Comcast remote (adding a 3 in front of the numbers) but that didn't work. Still trying to get my Comcast remote to program the Onkyo SR304 adequately, since their published codes only partially work.

Onkyo TX-SR304

Onkyo offers access to manuals at their web site. HERE is a link to the receiver line.

Personally, I'd connect the speakers to main left/right. The subwoofer to subwoofer out. The Go VIdeo unit to VCR/Video 1, the cable box to Video 2 and the video output to the Sony TV composite input. No need to connect the TV audio out to the receiver since the audio feed comes from the cable box.
