Door hinge tension adjustment

Here are some general steps you can try to make the self-closing doors stay open:

Locate the hinge cover on the upper doors of the fridge. This is usually a plastic or metal cover that conceals the hinge mechanism.

Remove the hinge cover by gently prying it off with a flat-head screwdriver or by unscrewing any screws holding it in place.

Look for an adjustable tension screw or tab on the hinge mechanism. This is typically a small metal tab or screw that can be rotated or adjusted.

Use a screwdriver or pliers to adjust the tension screw or tab. Turning it clockwise will usually increase the tension and make the door close more quickly, while turning it counterclockwise will reduce the tension and make the door close more slowly or stay open.

Adjust the tension screw or tab as needed until the door stays open at the desired angle.

Once you have adjusted the tension, replace the hinge cover and test the door to make sure it stays open and closes properly.

Keep in mind that adjusting the tension may affect the performance of the self-closing mechanism, so you may need to adjust it again in the future if you notice any issues. It's also important to be careful when adjusting the hinge mechanism, as improper adjustments could damage the fridge or cause the doors to become unstable

the door hinges move in or out to adjust that side of the door and the door lock latch moves to adjust that side.. loosen the door hinges just enough to move the door then -tension them to see how you are going. With the door open and the bolts slightly loose it may be possible to move the hinges by placing a long bar on the hinge past the door edge and hitting with a hammer

There are adjustment screws or bolts on the hinge attachments to the oven. Loosen them and adjust the door using wedges to hold the door in place.

i reckon you probly had some stuff in yer pockets so don't blame the kids, anyway the filter door is probly jammed up over time with lint and stuff (should be cleaned regularly) so git a screwdriver and prise the door open and clean out all the stuff in there..All good to go again.

the hinges are worn this could be due to resting heavy cooking pots on the door when open, or as i usually find when replacing these hinges for customers it's due to children using the open door to climb up to reach somthing from the work top.

The hinge is most likely out of adjustment as the tension should not have to be much to hold the door closed. The pivot point and the attachment to the door must be correct however.

The hinges usually have a hole exposed when you open the door to put a nail in so the hinges will be held open to work on them.

I am afraid that the door hinges are non adjustable, and the only solution is to replace them as a pair.
There should be some kind of latch mechanism at the end of the hinge
where it is fastened to the door to compress the hinge to enable you to remove them.

If the door is sprung in a manner that one side is flush and not other then most likely the hinge has been bent outward by the weight placed on it.the best solution would be to replace hinge,the spring only adjusts the tension for door closing. There is a slight possibility that either the frame or the door has bent in this manner so before buying hinge check frame and door for damage,after doing repair would suggest adjusting front legs of unit to raise front up a bit to ensure leaking wont continue

My husband just figured this out.

- Follow Door removal instruction from the manual.
- There is a screw at the end of the hinge that can be adjusted.
- Adjust the screw to desired height.
- Secure lock nut.

just about the most difficult job to do on a dishwasher, not normally a job for the home mechanic, i am an appliance engineer of 20 years and often shy away from jobs like this,

there is often no adjustment, the hinges are sprained, more often that not by people either putting weight on the door to stand back up, or children climbing on to get higher

the only thing i think you can do is to check the springs are in place and nothing is broken or just come off that can be put back?? sorry
