It sounds like you have a defective power switch. Switches will break at time. I found that the plastic support that the metal switch toggles over can break preventing the switch from operating properly either staying in the continuous on or off position. Try contacting Brother International Support at 877-436-2665 for assistance. They can probably give you the correct part number for the switch and send you one for a reasonable price. I found them to be quite price competitive with what one might find online at eBay or other third-party vendor.
When you receive the switch, you will need to disassemble the machine to get to the switch to remove it. This switch will either have screw on terminals or the wires will be soldered onto the terminals. If it is the first, it's easy to remove the wires and move them onto the new switch. If it is the second thing you'll likely need to desolder the wires from the switch and then resolder the wires on to the new switch.
To prevent inadvertent error, remove one wire at a time and move it to same terminal on the new switch.

Your waste ink absorber box has reached its limit. You have to replace the box (which is cheap, get one from your local brother service centre).
After replacing it you have to reset the purge counter and flushing counter.
This is not easy to do and I don't recommend it for anyone who is not technically inclined. You have to remove the front control panel, open the covers on the top cover assembly under the scanner. Unplug all the cables. Disconnect the ground wire (if any), remove the prop, remove the scanner assy by opening 90 degrees and sliding rearward. Put scanner aside. Remove four screws holding top case on, pry out the bosses at the front and remove the top cover.
At the rear you will see the flushing box or waste ink box. Lift it up a little. You should see two tubes attached. Remove the tubes and pull the box out. Dispose of old box. Attach the tubes to the new box and install it where the old one was. Reassemble in reverse order. Don't forget to plug in all the cables under the control panel.
Plug the unit in while holding down the Menu button. Keep holding until all the lights are flashing. Welcome to maintenance mode.
Press 8 and then 0. Press the Black Start key several times until you see Purge or Purge Count on the display. Now press 2, 7, 8, 3 to clear the count. Press Stop. Press 8, 0 again and the Black Start key several times until you see Flush or Flushing count. Again press 2, 7, 8, 3 to reset the flush count. Press Stop. Press 9 and 9 to exit maintenance mode. Job done.

Do you mean "unable to clean"?If it this follow this instruction.
Unplug the printer from power cord.Press and hold the "menu" button, then plug the device. You'll see on the LCD screen a "machine error" code.If this code is 40,41 or 4F the print head is defective. If the error is 50 or 51 there is error in Purge unit and printer require service. If the error is 46 the waste ink tank is full.Follow this:Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If numberis over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.This will reset the purge count value. Then restart the printer, hopefully without the annoying cannot clean message.
